A science-fiction tactical space simulator shooter. It is the debut title of Marauder Interactive – a studio founded by Mike Tipul, one of the designers of Halo: Reach. In the game, the player assumes the role of one of loyal commanders of dead Emperor, who is tasked with punishing the traitors which caused the monarch’s death. In order to do it, player takes control of a modern fighter jet, Executor Mk II, and commands the remains of the defeated fleet of the empire. The gameplay mechanics in House of the Dying Sun are based on classic space simulators. However, they are supplemented with expanded strategic aspect. During the missions, player is not only tasked with controlling the ship, but commanding a whole squadron through a special tactical screen similar to the one from Homeworld series as well.

An expansion to Crusader Kings II: Dark Ages, a successful strategy game released in 2012 by Paradox Interactive. Instead of being a feudal ruler, in Crusader Kings II: The Republic player assumes the role of the head of a trading house. He is tasked with leading his family to domination over the Hanseatic League and taking control of important trading cities like Venice, Genoa, Pisa and Gotland. Instead of building castles and conquering enemy territories, the player concentrates on controlling cities and trading. The interface and the whole economic aspect were modified in order to fit in the trading character of the gameplay. The player gains access to a family palace which can be improved and expanded. One can also build trading posts at the coast. The title of a leader of a republic lasts till the end of a character's life and is passed on to the head of the strongest local family through voting. Obtaining it is an important objective, but failure in doing so doesn’t mean the end of the game.

An unusual action RPG developed by Bare Mettle Entertainment. The game puts special emphasis on freedom of exploration. The story takes the player to a dark fantasy world, where the powerful mages left in charge of the land turned against their people and caused an attack of dark forces. The player takes control of a simple peasant who has been exiled from his home village for drawing the attention of some dangerous people. Soon, it turns out that the character is in fact The Chosen One, and has to prevent the incoming disaster. Sui Generis stands out with its focus on the player's freedom to shape the story, lack of typical character classes and quests as such, which are usual features in this genre. The protagonist is thrown into the midst of dangerous events, but the player is the one to decide where and for what reason he acts. It is up to the player, with whom the protagonist cooperates and what do they become as the protagonist develops.

A strategy role-playing game based on the Japanese classics of the genre. Telepath Tactics is set in a world, which is a blend of fantasy and steampunk. The story campaign focuses on two sisters, Emma and Sabrina. They girls escape a slave labor mine and hide among lizardmen warriors. They raise Emma and Sabrina and teach them the art of war. The sisters decide to use their new skills to gather an army and save their father, who remains enslaved. The gameplay focuses on turn-based battles, in which to win you have to use your tactical skills. You can e.g. push the enemies from a height, destroy walls, freeze water, set explosives, move objects, and build bridges. Your army consists of various units, which gain new abilities as the game progresses. Apart from the story campaign, the game features a multiplayer mode for up to six players.

The game is set in a dark labyrinth infested with evil forces that terrorize the people living nearby. You play as the leader of a group of adventurers, who, looking for riches and fame, delve into the underground to destroy the eponymous Dark Gates and the wizard guarding them. Like in the original tabletop version, your party consists of six heroes, each of them possessing a set of attributes and special abilities. The gameplay focuses on exploring the procedurally generated labyrinth and turn-based battles with monsters. As you win battles, you gain experience points, gold, and random loot, such as weapons, armor or magical potions. The game features hand-drawn 2D visuals, inspired by classing pen-and-paper RPGs.
