A role-playing game by Level 5 for mobile devices and Nintendo 3DS. Snack World is set in a fantasy realm, and you play as a young boy called Chup, who wants to exact revenge on the invaders that burned his family village to the ground. Fortunately, Chup is not alone — he is accompanied by his friends, Mayone and Pepperon. The game utilizes an isometric view and the gameplay focuses on exploration and collecting various items. Interestingly, your equipment is grouped by brand — it concerns blade weapons, shields, clothes, and jewelry, which are marked by fictional brand logos, such as Detton, Qloris or Fairy Electroncis. Moreover, they can be bought in the real world and then transferred to the in-game universe by NFC. Snack World features high-quality cartoonish visuals, clearly inspired by manga and anime.

Just like many similar titles, Lara Croft: Relic Run doesn’t contain a rich storyline – it just allows you to control the eponymous character during her numerous adventures in search of precious artifacts. In the game Lara automatically runs ahead and your task is to command her to jump, slide or change direction at the right moment with gestures. Apart from that, there are many combat sequences, both with common enemies and mighty bosses (like a Tyrannosaurus). Sometimes you can also show your acrobatic talent by running on the wall or doing some other evolutions in order to avoid various threats. The gameplay is also more attractive thanks to a simple character progression system, online leaderboards and well recreated atmosphere of the Tomb Raider series.

It soon turns out that the only piece of software able to stop him is the game’s protagonist – a small white man, known as The Chosen One. Equipped only with his Magic Hat he sets out on a journey across various regions in order to put an end to the tyrant’s rule. The classic platforming gameplay is enriched by the aforementioned hat – the hero can drop it wherever he wants and then teleport himself to the hat’s location. This mechanic allows him to reach inaccessible places and solve many puzzles. Although A Pixel Story does not feature any opponents to battle, each level is filled with various traps and death can come at any time. Another interesting innovation is the artwork. You start the adventure in a pixellated 8-bit reality, but as you progress the world becomes more and more detailed.

During their interstellar journeys, their ship crash-lands on a nearby planet, which turns out to be Earth. The heroes and their friends (on some rare occasions you will also control Peabo and Lewanda) need to find replacement parts for their vessel in order to go home. Similarly to the first part of the game, ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove presents the action from the isometric point of view. The mechanics consists of free exploration, fighting ridiculous enemies, and playing funny minigames. During the game, the heroes come across mysterious presents which can either help or harm – the only way to find out is to open them. Co-op is surely an asset – each adventure can be played solo or with up to three other players. All of this is complemented by great visuals – the world and the characters seem like they were cut out from paper, and the depth is intensified by the 3D perspective. The pleasurable soundtrack is inspired by music trends of the 90s.

An unusual rescue helicopter simulator developed by PlayWay. We are left without any form of storyline or a plot, instead taking part in a number of unconnected rescue operations. The game takes place on an expansive world spanning 100 km2 that contains various settlements, locations, and other elements which are a background to thirty varied assignments that see us fight against numerous natural disasters including great fires or earthquakes. The player is given five helicopters that are characterized by their specialization and different behavior in flight, as well as a few land vehicles and speedboats that received their separate segments. Helicopter: Natural Disasters is governed by a realistic physics engine that offers realistic flight, as well as controls a number of smaller factors such as the weight of the transported cargo or changing weather conditions.

The next major installment in a bestselling music game series launched in 2005 by Harmonix studio, who are currently developing a similar series, Rock Band. Returning after a several-year long hiatus, this new installment was developed by FreeStyle Games, who previously created two DJ Hero games. Overall, the gameplay mechanics did not change much, however, this time the game features the view from the guitarist’s eyes, whereas cartoonish characters gave way to authentic musicians and crowds resembling real audience. Guitar Hero Live supports a new version of guitar controller with 6 buttons in two rows, imitating the real instrument even better. As always, the game lets you adjust difficulty level to your skills. Unfortunately, unlike rivaling Rock Band 4, Guitar Hero Live is not compatible with tracks purchased for previous games.

Strategy, Fantasy, Indie Games, RTS, Singleplayer, Tower Defense.

A mobile strategy game by Kurechii, blending tower defense and classic RTS elements. Tiny Guardians in set in a classic fantasy realm, which you have to defend against a monster invasion. To succeed, you have to find a powerful sorceress, who is the only person possessing powers that can stop the forces of evil once and for all. In every level you have to survive the attacking waves of enemies, although unlike in other tower defense games, you don't use static towers but characters, over which you have absolute control. The enemies move in set patterns, which allows you to plan your strategy in advance. In addition, like in role-playing games, each available character has their own fighting style, equipment, and abilities, which can be developed as the game progresses.
