A typical example of a metroidvania game. It was developed by an independent American studio Renegate Kid. The player assumes the role of a lone astronaut who is tasked with exploring the surface of four dangerous planets. Although the player can visit each planet from the beginning of the game (by using a spaceship), it is quickly revealed that, in order to reach hardly accessible places, they must first obtain various upgrades. These provide the protagonist with useful abilities like, for example, diving. Xeodrifter is strongly influenced by 8-bit games from the genre, including the first entries in the Metroid series. However, the developers included some unusual features. There is only one boss in the game – the player is fighting him many times on each planet (after some time the enemy learns new attacks and actions). Some obstacles can be bypassed by jumping between the first plane of the game and the background.

A survival horror action adventure game and the debut production of Devespresso Games. In The Coma, we assume the role of a high school student by the name of Youngho who falls asleep during his final exam and having woken up, he discovers that it’s nighttime and everyone has long since left the classroom. It turns out that some sinister force has overrun the school and won’t stop until the student is dead. While playing, we explore the school which is full of traps and monsters that used to be the protagonist's teachers and fellow students. Our task is to find a way to escape the building. Since the hero is not very strong, the best way to survive is to avoid contact with the enemy, to sneak behind their back, and if all else fails: to run. In the course of the game, we can encounter other students — some of them can give us valuable clues, others pose a grave danger.

Square Heroes is an arcade game developed by the creators of Square Off. Cross-platform multiplayer is the game's main focus. We play as genetically modified creatures whose only goal is to kill and destroy. They were created to save mankind, but now they fight against characters similar to themselves in the Galactic Hero's Tournament. Gameplay is not that dynamic, which makes lags less troublesome. The game has rather simple rules to follow. Before entering the tournament's arena, we have to choose our equipment from around thirty available weapons. We have have five weapon slots: melee weapons (i.e. an axe), small arms (pistol, crossbow, etc.), large guns (shotgun, flamethrower), explosives and special items, i.e. atomic bomb. We begin with level 1 weapons, but we can get money by killing our opponents, which we then can spend on higher tier weapons. Square Heroes also has character progression mechanics.

Set in a fantasy setting, a real-time strategy being another installment in the series started in 2011 with a MMORTS game – Dawn of Fantasy (later re-imagined as a free-to-play game Kingdom Wars). The plot in Kingdom Wars 2: Battles takes us to the land plunged into the chaos of war between humans, elves, and orcs. With the advent of the undead, the fourth powerful race, the divided parties need to join their forces and together face the new, dreadful enemy. Mechanics combine aspects of classic RTS games with a number of modern solutions, like card games, survival elements, and an extensive crafting system. Gameplay consists of economic and military levels – achieve strategic excellence and fortify and siege strongholds. The game concentrates on the single player campaign, yet still follows in its predecessors’ footsteps, introducing a wide range of multiplayer modes as well.

The second episode of a conventional point-and-click adventure game based on the works of an Italian writer Valerio Evangelisti. Developed by Ticon Blu and published by Microids (a French company), the game continues the story of the Spanish inquisitor, Nicolas Eymerich. The second episode is set in a small village known as Calcares, which has been overrun by powerful demons. The player visits 31 completely new locations, where they encounter both manifestations of demonic activity and numerous NPCs. The core of the experience constitutes conversations, collecting items and solving puzzles - the developer included as much as 25 riddles to solve. All of this is accompanied by decent graphics combining 3D character models with pre-rendered backgrounds.

To do this, the protagonist is sent onto a space station, called The Ark, which is the base of operations. This is where you hire and train new astronauts, equip your spacecraft with necessary instrumentation and design its interior, as well as conduct research in order to improve the technology at hand. Next, you set off on a mission, the success of which depends on the actions you took on The Ark. The world in The Sentient is randomly generated, so nothing is ever 100% sure. Doing missions grants experience and knowledge, which translates to new possibilities. Due to permadeath feature, when your crew members die they are gone forever, so you should be careful not to lose an experienced employee. On the other hand, the bigger risk you take, the better reward you can get. The Sentient features 2D pixel-art graphics styled after 8- and 16-bit console games.

The player assumes the role of a nameless amnesiac who appeared in a dark, medieval-like land. Our goal is not only to learn his identity but also to solve the mystery surrounding our mysterious presence in the unknown land. Basically, the gameplay in Dark Fear focuses on exploration and solving various environmental puzzles as well as talking to non-player characters that can help us in our dark adventure. The production is enriched by a character development system and a survival aspect — we need to hunt to obtain food. What ending we will experience is largely dependent on our decisions. The pixel-art graphics, inspired by the games of the 80s, complement the gameplay.

Gameplay of Disney Art Academy remains the same as in the previous title, following a series of lessons that progressively introduce us to more and more complicated drawing techniques. It is complemented by Free Paint Mode, which allow us to create whatever images we want, as well as previously featured social services that we can use to publish our works through Miiverse and social networks.

A science fiction point-and-click adventure being a debut project by the Polish studio Bisonia. The action of Shadow Of Nebula takes place in 3102 – after finding an alien spaceship and reverse engineering its technology, humans have created intelligent nanobots. However, the temptation to use them for wrong purposes was too strong, so their creator decided to destroy every document concerning information about nanobots. During gameplay you assume the role of a man who makes his living from working as a Space Courier. He crash lands on an abandoned planet and while trying to survive and looking for a way out, he learns that this is the place where the documents were hidden. Mechanically, this is a classic adventure game with emphasis on exploring, collecting items, and solving puzzles. There is also a parallel virtual reality and all actions taken there affect the real world.

Underground is the first paid expansion that comes as a part of the season pass for The Division, a multiplayer online action game by Ubisoft Massive. Initially, the DLC was made available for Xbox One and after a month-long period of exclusivity, it came out for other platforms: PC and PlayStation 4. The division is a political thriller the action of which takes place in a plague-torn New York. After the breakout of an epidemic caused by terrorists, the metropolis had been cut off from the world and became mired in chaos. While in the vanilla game we traversed the streets of the Big Apple, the said DLC, just like the title suggests, introduces a system of underground tunnels running under the city. Inside, new story quests and enemies await the players. The Division is focused on playing with other people but a large part of its contents can be explored alone.

The game is a continuation to a challenging, though not very complex logic title developed by the independent studio 2SD. The player's goal is to lead an adequate amount of liquid to a test-tube, which is usually located in a place difficult to access. Platforms and walls the player draws are often insufficient to pour the liquid into the tube. In order to effectively complete this apparently simple task, the player needs to take advantage of interactive objects located on the map, such as spinning circles, gusts of wind or portals. At first glance, they seem to be no more than obstacles, but using them with creativity makes it easier for the player to achieve their goal. Over the course of 27 maps, the player will encounter other mechanics as well - for instance, liquids with different colors have to be mixed - such conditions diversify the experience and make it more challenging. The gameplay is complemented by a well-designed level editor.

An unusual production by Pawel Mogila from Mogila Games. The title features elements characteristic for logic, action, platform, and even stealth games. You assume the role of Samson who, as the title outright states, is clinically dead. This means that for him, the time has stopped – due to that, he can contemplate his whole life. This translates into traveling through surreal places, which symbolize the hero’s mind, and talking with his own subconsciousness. In Clinically Dead, the action is presented from the first-person perspective. Logic puzzles are the backbone of the game – you need to manipulate time, represented by multi-colored stains on the environment elements. Your job is to maneuver these objects so that they adjust correctly at the right moment, which unlocks another location. Moreover, the hero also jumps on the platforms, faces opponents (using melee weapons or magic bullets), or sneaks behind their backs. This is a non-linear title featuring locations connected by multiple paths.

An action-puzzle game inspired by the annual “Earth Hour” event organized by WWF foundation. The game was developed by the Russian studio Brainy. It shows how much the modern world depends on electricity. When an accident in the power plant causes the whole city to run out of electricity, the player assumes the role of the last “living” spark and is tasked with restoring the power and allowing the inhabitants of the city to function normally. The gameplay mechanics in TurnOn are similar as in typical platformer games. The difference lies in the fact that instead between the platforms, the player must jump between electric wires. By jumping from one wire to another, the player tries to restore the power to houses, shops, and various electric devices. The devices are connected to each other with a tightly tangled network of connections. Because of that, in addition to having high agility, the game also forces the player to think. The game contains bonus levels as well. During them the player must move through the electric wires according to the tune of the background music.

Just like the title suggests, Mare Nostrum (Our Sea, as the Romans used to call the Mediterranean Sea) is focused primarily on developing and enhancing sea trade and naval battles. The biggest novelty is the introduction of sailors who influence our fleets’ strength and are necessary to build and repair our ships. Moreover, the expansion adds a completely new system that makes directing our fleets easier while they perform various tasks and patrol duties. Now, we can also hire mercenaries, the so-called condottieri, who take part in foreign wars, and found trade leagues that give us unique military and economic bonuses. The novelties list also features spy networks, corruption mechanics, new African nations (including the ones involved in piracy), and geographical and cultural map corrections.

During the game player assumes the role of a journalist who is trying to solve the mystery of the death of an eccentric professor, exploring the rooms of his mansion and gathering various items, hidden documents, evidence, and clues. What makes the situation even more interesting is the fact that all of the player’s actions are observed by the murderer hiding somwhere in the mansion and meeting him could end in sudden death. Robot Invader’s production was released both in traditional version and in one that is compatible with most popular virtual reality sets.

We will frequently face powerful mechanical bosses with whom we can fight with guns, or climb them in order to find their weaknesses. Pisces' evolution is an important part of the game. With time, her mechanical reactions become human instincts and emotions. Our behavior towards Pisces plays a crucial role in our synthetic friend's evolution. She can interpret our reactions and remember moments spent together. The Lost Pisces uses Unreal Engine 4.

Gameplay-wise, Tumble VR is a unique but relatively easy game, in which you find yourself in a special arena, where your skillfulness and logical thinking are tested. Each task is very creative. You have to build bridges and towers out of available elements, and also blow up many other constructions, etc. The tasks require you to use your brain and have a lot of patience. Completing tasks earns you achievements, and the most precious ones are the most difficult to get. The visuals are quite minimalistic, consisting of colorful geometrical figures and some occasional special effects.

A two-dimensional retro game that combines elements of real-time strategy, roguelike action game and survival. The title was developed by an independent developer known as Machine 22 and the team at Creaky Corpse (authors of the browser MMO game Dead Frontier). March of the Living employs the popular zombie apocalypse theme. In the game, the player assumes the role of one of the survivors who, together with a few other people, are trying to reach a safe haven in which humanity can start rebuilding civilization. The gameplay mechanics of March of the Living are clearly inspired by FTL: Faster Than Light. While traveling through procedurally generated world, the player fights zombie hordes, meets allies and reacts to random events. The game offers a tactical battle system with active pause. In order to survive, one must obtain food, weapons and other needed items, manage his supplies and make hard decisions.

A turn-based roguelike RPG, considered to be a spiritual successor of DoomRL. Both games have been developed by Chaos Forge. The action of Jupiter Hell is set inside bases located on several moons of Jupiter. Near those base gates to hell have been opened, allowing waves of demons to come to our universe. As a lonely marine, the player has to stop the demonic invasion. The gameplay of Jupiter Hell revolves around traversing procedurally generated locations filled with monsters that the player has to defeat in turn-based combat. One is given a powerful weapon arsenal and a wide range of items that increase the character's combat potential. The game offers a campaign divided into particular missions that push the story forward; nonetheless, players can enjoy tons of random side missions. Jupiter Hell features a relatively high difficulty level, and the main protagonist's death is permanent - upon dying, the player has to start over the game.

The game intertwines the fates of two people: Major Afshar, who is ordered to reveal the mystery behind a series of murders that shocked Tehran, and an Iranian journalist based in London, who falls onto a trail of a conspiracy aimed at his country. When it comes to mechanics, the title is a third-person perspective adventure game with action elements, focusing mainly on exploration and puzzle solving; however,a huge emphasis was placed on conversations with encountered characters. Aside from that, the game contains numerous arcade sections, including spectacular shootouts and car chases.

A cyberpunk adventure game from Stranded’s developer, Peter Moorhead. Murder takes us a few decades into the future, to futuristic Tokyo. We play as Motomeru Minori, a female police lieutenant, who investigates a strange and very dangerous case of murder. While she tries to uncover the truth behind this dark mystery, the heroine must question her definition of morality and consciousness. Gameplay-wise, Murder is a classic adventure title, in which we explore locations, talk with NPCs, collect items and solve puzzles. Game features a simple interface, which sometimes becomes an integral part of the story. Murder is a rather small and low-price title, an interactive counterpart of a short story, with the whole campaign taking an hour to finish at best. Visuals use a pixel art retro style, befitting of a cyberpunk world. The atmosphere is complemented by climatic soundtrack, composed by American musician known as kubrixXx.

A remastered edition of a 2012's two-dimensional platformer by studio Tequila Works, designed for PC and eighth generation of video game consoles. The plot of the title is set in an alternative version of the 80s, in which, as a result of a mysterious virus, world was overrun by zombies. During the game we play the part of a survivor named Randall Wayne, who is trying to reach a safe place and meet up with his friends and family. When it comes to mechanics, the game is a 2.5D platformer, emphasizing exploration and different ways of dealing with zombies. There are also purely arcade sequences, as well as environmental puzzles that we have to solve in order to get to previously inaccessible places. In comparison to the original game published four years earlier, Deadlight: Director's Cut features improved 1080p visuals, a set of new animations and a new game mode – Survival Arena.

During the game, you explore locations, talk to NPCs, gather useful items and solve puzzles. Your chosen biography and in-game decisions shape the story, as does your supporting partner, the choice of which can be difficult, as the five available companions have their own unique personalities and abilities. The main designer of the game is Dave Gilbert, known from the Blackwell series, and the story was written by Jennifer Helper, the writer of e.g. the first two installments of the Dragon Age series.

An unusual simulation game developed by one of the former developers of the F1 series. Jalopy takes us to Eastern Europe of the late 80s and early 90s, just after the fall of communism. In the game, we sit behind the wheel of a fictional car called Laika 601 Deluxe, which was modeled after the famous DDR’s Trabant. The player’s task is to use the economical inequalities in various European countries in order to earn money quickly. It includes trading with various goods by buying them for next to nothing and selling them in places where people are ready to purchase them for large sums of money. Transporting some items abroad, we have to take border controls into account, which often forces us to smuggle. Apart from the economic aspect, Jalopy offers an extensive simulation mechanics that involve maintaining our car (refueling, repairing, and not overloading it) but also the driver, who has to eat, drink, and sleep, among other things. The title features simple vector graphics and brownish colors that emphasize the grim atmosphere of the period.

Remake of an 2D action shooter that was released in 1990 on Sega Mega Drive. The project was created by the Japanese studio Dracue Software under the watchful eye of Rising Star Games, the publisher of such games as Lumo and Deadly Premonition. Assault Suit Leynos offers a gloomy vision of the distant future in which humanity was forced to start colonizing the space to search for natural resources. However, the exploration of space led to a confrontation with a hostile race of aliens. A mech called the Assault Suit is the last hope of humanity. In the game the player assumes the role of a pilot of the machine and faces the invaders. The singleplayer campaign consists of many levels during which one fights the incoming enemy units. In order to defeat them, the player uses various weapons: machine guns, rocket launchers, laser weapons. Gameplay mechanics are based on the original game – it is a classic 2D shooter. The gameplay retains its oldschool feel but offers HD quality.

A two-dimensional platformer with logic game elements and the debut project from the independent developer Colorspace Studio. In the Shadows has us assume the role of a person who embarks on an emotional journey to the times of childhood where they have to face their fears, symbolized by various monsters. The gameplay mechanics combine arcade elements with logic puzzles that use light as their primary element. At night, all everyday objects turn into dangerous creatures but if we shed some light on them, they switch back to their original aspect and often help us in our unusual adventure. The problem is that the protagonist doesn’t have a flashlight so the key to success is to find ways to lure our opponents into the vicinity of lamps as well as to cunningly manipulate other luminous objects in the environment. The game features a classic side view and pixel-art graphics.

The gameplay focuses on subsequent encounters between them. Players can choose from a large set of titans, offering unique units and abilities. The encounters take place on maps, each having several alternative paths. The point of rivalry is to destroy the enemy’s buildings. The problem is that after the summoning of the fighter, he moves on his own, facing the enemy’s forces. The key to success is an appropriate choice of units and their paths of movement, in order for the units to be able to deal with the surprises prepared by our enemy. On the whole, the gameplay is rather multiplayer-oriented, but there is a possibility of polishing our skills by clashing with artificial intelligence.

Another installment in a series of popular sports games devoted to ice hockey and developed by EA Sports since the middle 90s. In terms of the mechanics, NHL 17 does not bring any significant changes to what the players have experienced before. However, the game brings several novelties and upgrades as usual. The creators mainly enhanced the AI of the goalkeepers, improved the physics affecting the hockey players during close encounters, modified the systems of passes and spins, as well as added several new celebrations. For the first time in the series, the player can take part in world competitions with national teams competing for the victory (International Tournament Mode). The list of gameplay variants available is complemented by modes the fans are already familiar with, such as Draft Champions or Franchise Mode - the latter features an extensive "Be a GM" component. Interestingly, NHL 17 features Arena Creator as well, which allows us to create the ice hockey rink of our dreams.

An oldschool side-scroll 2D beat 'em up game, created by Empty Clip as extra content for everyone, who purchased Dead Island Definitive Collection including the remastered editions of Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide by Techland. Dead Island Retro Revenge faithfully recreates the classic arcade beat 'em up spirit, popular from the early 90s. During the game, you keep going right, facing waves of enemies, consisting mostly of various kinds of bloodthirsty zombies, just like in the original production. Dead Island Retro Revenge features colorful, although very oldschool visuals, and the game's screen is stylized to resemble a pixelated arcade screen.

An episodic action adventure game by Frima, set in the mythical world of the Vikings. The title was designed with VR headsets in mind. Fated: The Silent Oath was developed by a former writer for the Assassin’s Creed series and focuses on a certain family that faces Ragnarok, which is the Nordic counterpart of the end of days. We assume the role of the father who tries to protect his loved ones from the wrath of gods. The action is shown from the first-person perspective. While playing, we engage in activities that are typical of the genre, such as exploration, having conversations, and solving puzzles. There are some arcade sequences, as well. At the same time, the title is full of emotions, putting a great emphasis on such emotions as bravery, love, sacrifice, compassion, despair, or joy.

A mobile battle-strategy game set in the world of Warhammer 40,000. It is a virtual rendition of Battlefleet Gothic - a tabletop game published by Games Workshop. Battlefleet Gothic: Leviathan was developed by Grand Cauldron and offers an extensive campaign based on the stories from expansions, comic strips and novels belonging to the Shield of Baal series. Battlefleet Gothic: Leviathan follows the Tyranids' invasion of the Cryptus system, as a result of which humanity loses majority of their ships together with Admiral Julius van Avacor. The player assumes the role of his successor who tries to hold the system until backup arrives. The player participates in turn-based battles set in space and based on the rules of the original tabletop game. The pace of the gameplay here is slow, resembling sea battles. Taking into account both the advantages and disadvantages of different ships having their individual features and weaponry is the key to achieve success in battle. In the campaign, the player is free to pick a side, choosing either the Empire or the Tyranids. Subsequent races and missions are added over time in post-release updates.

The second DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. It is a part of the season pass available only on PCs and eighth generation consoles. As in case of previous installments in the series, the expansion offers two main elements. First one is another chapter of the cooperation zombie mini-campaign called Zetsubou no Shima. During this chapter the heroes who are facing an invasion of living dead are going to a small island on the Pacific Ocean, where secret experiments are conducted. The second part of the expansion is a typical set of four new multiplayer maps: Knockout, Spire, Rift and Verge. On these maps the players will explore a Buddhist monastery, an orbital space port, a transport system hanging above an active volcano and a post-apocalyptic camp based on the Banzai map from Call of Duty: World at War.

A strategy shooter game that supports virtual reality sets. The game was developed by RocketWerkz, a studio founded by Dean “Rocket” Hall – the creator of the famous survival game DayZ. Out of Ammo takes place during an undefined modern conflict. The player assumes the role of a commander who must defend a base from the incoming enemy. The game combines the mechanics of a first-person shooter with a tower defense game. The player can shoot the incoming enemies directly, summon artillery support, select targets for snipers and call in an air strike. He can also give simple commands to other soldiers on the battlefield and create buildings such as guard towers. The action takes place on several maps, including a city, desert or a mountain area. The graphics of Out of Ammo are similar to Minecraft. The voxel-based, three-dimensional graphics lack any visual bells and whistles, but provide the title a unique atmosphere.

Shock Tactics is a turn-based strategy inspired by the classic games like the X-COM series or Jagged Alliance and the TV show Firefly. The game takes place in the far future, where mankind colonized the universe. We play as an ex-convict who was sent on a dangerous mission. His job will be to lead the colonization of a newly discovered planet. Ruthless mercenaries hired by the intergalactic Syndicate and a mysterious race that originated from humans will stand in his way and try to stop him from fulfilling his mission. During our adventures we will be exploring the planet, divided into several procedurally generated continents. Firstly, we will have to secure checkpoints and set convoy routes. In time, we will unlock new areas and learn the secrets left by civilization that once lived there. We can use the gathered knowledge to improve and develop our base and conduct research on new technologies. During missions, we lead a group of up to six unique soldiers. Taking advantage of the environment plays an important role during battles.

A remastered edition of the 2014 game Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey for PC and mobile devices, developed by Bacon Bandit Games. Gameplay-wise the new version doesn't differ from the original. You play as two friendly grim reapers, who, instead of escorting souls into the afterlife, fight monsters and ghosts. The production features a specific turn-based combat system, in which you put together words, like in the popular Scrabble game. Apart from the campaign known from the original, Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey also features the Endless mode, in which you try to last as long as you can against hordes of enemies. Most of the differences between the original and remastered versions are technical. The game utilizes the popular Unity engine, allowing for e.g. higher resolution, better textures and, smoother animations.

The game was developed by an Italian studio The Fox Software, which specializes in this genre - it is popular mainly for such games as Ico Soccer for Nintendo DS or Throw In for PCs; the latter being a remake of the classic title Kick Off 2. The game focuses on delivering an arcade experience and is played from a classic aerial view. The player does not have to get accustomed to using many buttons. The game offers over 800 national and league teams from all over the world, giving an opportunity to play different kinds of matches. Unfortunately, Active Soccer 2 does not use official licenses, but the creators included a simple team editor, so the player does not have to use the default club and footballer names. One can play friendly matches, as well as both league and cup games, apart from taking part in the career mode, which is complemented by a simplistic management module, requiring the player to develop adequate tactics, supervise transfers and take care of funding-related issues. Active Soccer 2 also offers a cross-platform online mode.

Other noteworthy features include the possibility of conducting clinical tests (and to falsify their results) and manually setting the prices of medicines as well as an expanded list of equipment that we can buy for our factories. Moreover, the game is enriched by perks - unique traits of our company that significantly influence our later activities.

An isometric, cyberpunk hack ‘n’ slash with roguelike elements by Clever-Plays, an independent Canadian studio. In Leap of Fate, we are taken to an alternative version of New York, which, apart from ordinary people, is inhabited by technomages who possess supernatural powers. We assume the role of one of them and our task is to prove our worth by completing a series of trials in a temple called the Crucible of Mages. There are four character with different story and fighting style to choose from, and the gameplay is focused on traversing subsequent locations and facing various traps and hordes of incoming enemies. The protagonist has only one life and death forces us to start back from square one. Luckily, the unlocked abilities are permanent, which makes each subsequent attempt significantly easier.
