Alone in the Dark: Illumination is the sixth major game of the Alone in the Dark series, which began between 1992 and 1995 with the cult trilogy developed by I-Motion. This time, however, a completely new studio - Pure - was chosen to develop a game from the fan-favorite series. The game takes place in a mining town of Lorwich, where four heroes will have to face the forces of evil. Each of them has different abilities and a slightly different gameplay. Edward Carnby's descendant is joined by a Witch, an Engineer, and a Priest. Each of them uses different weapons and powers. The Illumination system is a new gameplay feature that allows the players to create safe areas where the playable characters can heal themselves and deal more damage to the enemies. The game comprises four different campaigns and a fully functional multiplayer mode, where fighting the evil forces with other players is only one of the available options.

A sequel to the bestselling racing game that was a spin-off to the flagship series of racing games developed for Xbox consoles. The title was developed by the creators of the previous entry: Playground Games (Xbox One version) and by Sumo Digital (Xbox 360 version). The new installment takes place in Southern Europe where another Horizon festival takes place. The festival is filled with good music and variety of racing challenges. Similarly as its predecessor, the title offers a large, open world where hundreds of licensed cars await the player. Similarly as the first entry in the spin-off series, the game offers a driving model that is slightly simplified in comparison to Forza Motorsport – it focuses mostly on making the races impressively looking. For the first time in the series the developers implemented a dynamically changing weather system which adds some realism to the races. The developers also added the Drivatars system known from Forza Motorsport 5, enabling the virtual drivers to gain experience even if they don’t participate in the game.

A special remastered edition of the two popular first-person shooters: Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, developed primarily with 8th-generation consoles in mind. The story of the Metro series revolves around a youngster named Artem and presents a post-apocalyptic vision of the world in which the humanity fights for survival after a nuclear apocalypse. The action of Metro 2033 takes place in the tunnels of the Moscow subway that now shelters the survivors from dangerous mutants. In the sequel, we abandon the underground tunnels to explore the open spaces of the ruined city. Due to the gameplay enhancements, the game now offers a multiplayer mode. Both titles in the bundle are almost identical to the original ones and any changes involve mainly improved graphics.

Compilation of the first three installments in the cult brawler game series, released for arcade machines at the turn of the 1980s and 90s. The remasters of those classic titles were handled by DotEmu. Double Dragon Trilogy tells of the adventures of two brothers – Billy and Jimmy Lee – Sou-Setsu-Ken masters, who run a small martial arts school in a post-apocalyptic New York. All three games are focused on two-person co-op gameplay, which comes down to traversing two-dimensional levels and beating up opponents on the way. Melee combat is based on a whole range of punches and kicks as well as the frequent use of different types of weapons. The games offer both Story Mode and Arcade Mode, the latter being all about high scores. Double Dragon Trilogy returns with slightly enhanced graphics, although it is also possible to play with the original audiovisuals. In addition, the remasters offer three levels of difficulty and the option to customize controls.

A representative of the third-person stealth game genre, created by the independent studio of Lince Works. The main character of the production is the titular Aragami - an assassin who has risen from the dead and has been endowed with supernatural abilities. The mysterious Yamiko is responsible for his resurrection and she desperately needs his aid to escape from the closely guarded fortress. Gameplay mechanics revolve around the characteristic patterns of similar productions, such as Tenchu or Dishonored. Zones visited during the various missions have an open-world character, which, combined with an extensive range of skills, allows the hero to perform tasks in many different ways. In Aragami we have to sneak in the shadows, teleport to selected locations, dispose of the bodies of murdered opponents, and even create clones of the protagonist. However, the hero clearly wasn't meant for direct confrontations and a group of opponents are able to take his life without much of a problem. The cartoonish visuals, which draw inspiration from the East Asian culture, are also a very distinctive feature.

An FPP action-adventure game featuring sci-fi elements and focusing on exploration. It was developed by Blue Isle Games - a Canadian team popular for Slender: The Arrival. The player is taken to the titular valley, which is a mysterious place located somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. Assuming the role of an unspecified character, the player traverses a set of diversified locations, trying to discover the secrets hidden in the area. The protagonist makes use of the L.E.A.F. exoskeleton, which belongs to the latest inventions in technology. However, thanks to the possibilities the exoskeleton offers, the exploration is very dynamic, for the protagonist can access locations an ordinary human being would not be able to reach. One of the most important uses of L.E.A.F. is control over life and death - the player can both deprive organisms of their lives or literally breathe life into them. There is a price to be paid for this ability however, because each death of the protagonist causes the entire valley to decay gradually.

A multiplayer-focused first-person shooter set during the World War 2, developed by British Bulkhead Interactive studio. The maps on which we play are inspired by real battlefields of the Great War, like the streets of Carentan or the forests near Bastogne. We play as an infantry soldier and take part in dynamic, purely arcade battles – though not without a good dose of realism, visible in e.g. faithfully recreated weapons. The game emphasizes players skills and lacks a character progression system typically present in other online titles, with our only reward for winning being only cosmetic additions. Battalion 1944 offers many classic game modes, like deathmatch, capture the flag, and their team variants.

While playing, we assume the role of the eponymous hero whose task is to find his lost mother. The path to his goal is a bumpy one because his mother, a lady scientist who deals with color research, got lost somewhere in a monochromatic world. In the game, we traverse vast, single-colored maps, avoiding various obstacles and solving puzzles based mostly on color manipulation. The protagonist has the ability to change the background colors in a given location, thanks to which we can, for instance, neutralize traps, create platforms, interact with items, and unblock the way to previously unavailable places. Hue bases on the structure typical to the metroidvania genre — while exploring, we find blocked paths to which he can come back to after we have obtained necessary skills.

The largest novelty, however, is a completely new story campaign set in modern times, as well as a mini-campaign situated in the Middle Ages, a period where the so-called witch hunts took place. Apart from that, the expansion brings a new K9 unit - a dog capable of tracking those trapped under the debris or locating explosives.

An action game with numerous RPG elements. Similar to its predecessor, it is a spin-off title in the Dragon Quest franchise by Square Enix, and although it retains a similar atmosphere, it offers several new solutions. The plot of Dragon Quest Heroes II references the events of its predecessor. Despite the lack of any direct links to the core Dragon Quest productions, there are a few familiar faces to see here. As befits a hack and slash game, Dragon Quest Heroes II focuses on quick and spectacular combat. The player fights hordes of enemies who would pose no threat in a one-on-one fight but can be dangerous in larger numbers. Moreover, from time to time, the protagonist faces powerful bosses; to defeat them, it is necessary to use more advanced tactic. Although the game focuses on arcade hand-to-hand combat, it does not lack a complex plot and script. Dragon Quest Heroes II offers three-dimensional graphics which resemble Japanese manga and anime stylistics.

A standalone expansion for the 2013’s well-received survival sandbox game, Don’t Starve. The main goal of the add-on is to transfer the core premise of the original title into cooperative multiplayer gameplay. In the game, we still explore the world, gather food, build a shelter, fight various enemies, and take care of the protagonist’s physical and mental health. The primary novelty is the possibility of interacting with other players who can turn out to be either precious friends or deadly foes. Don’t Starve Together allows us to play both with our friends and with complete strangers. Another appeal of the expansion is the fact that it comes with the previously released DLC, Reign of Giants, which expands the original title with new bioms, enemies, and a full year cycle. In Worms WMD, the basic gameplay principles remain unchanged, and the players still have to eliminate the opposite team using a number of more or less unconventional weapons. The participants make their moves in turns and their actions are limited by a time limit. The game refers to the initial two-dimensional installments of the series, which means that battles are presented from the classical side view. The title does not lack for several enriching novelties, though. These include the possibility to hide inside buildings and to use vehicles that allow us to traverse the battlefield and deal damage to the enemy. Visually, the production features the characteristic cartoonish visual style, although the worms’ appearance and animation were refreshed.

The matches take place at relatively small maps, based on most iconic locations featured in Resident Evil games. Our arsenal is composed of a wide variety of standard and non-conventional weapons, both for melee and ranged combat. There are also zombies in Umbrella Corps, controlled by artificial intelligence. Interestingly, they are more than a simple decoration as they can be used to our advantage during fights.

Apart from that, the devs from Night Dive (who created this edition) implemented an option to look around with mouse, which was not present in the original release. Developed by the thatgamecompany studio, Journey is a remarkably unique exploration game, in which we embark on a journey through the desert sands. Our goal is to reach the summit of a great mountain, constantly visible on the horizon. A distinctive feature of Journey is the fact that we do not get a lot of exposure - the production lacks a classic narrative and does not have any dialogues; the nature of our protagonist and of the world we are in, which once harbored a mighty civilization, is all but unknown to us, a mystery, the true nature of which we can only speculate. The game consists of semi-open levels, which contain various puzzles and hidden locations. After passing through each of them we arrive at the next stage and the accompanying cut-scenes allow us to gradually discover and interpret the subsequent fragments of the plot. Journey also has one very intriguing curio - while playing the online mode we can encounter other players and at any time start playing in the co-op mode - but we still have to make do without verbal communication. All of the above is distinguished by an unusual, melancholic atmosphere and very artistic visuals, with focus on a minimalistic but incisive graphic style.

The story is set in 2018, when strange anomalies begin to occur on the surface of our planet. What also makes its appearance in the game are great war machines that exterminate civilians. We play as a leader of a strike unit sent to Baghdad on a mission to research the phenomena taking place there. The gameplay resembles a typical tower defense game, and the player controls a unit made of several combat machines with different properties. However, the player's task is not to defend their base, but to perform an attack on the enemy's territory and complete a series of missions we have been given. The game features a standard story campaign, as well as challenges that require the player to fight subsequent waves of enemies.

Another spin-off of the Resident Evil series, realized by Capcom in the convention of a target on rails. During the game we don't control the character's movements, limiting ourselves to aiming and eliminating successive hosts of bloodthirsty zombies. In Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles we make use of a diverse arsenal - it's worth stuffing not only the opponents with lead, but also elements of the environment prone to destruction, hiding useful bonuses.

RPG, Fantasy, jRPG, Singleplayer, Tactics, Turn-based.
Japanese production of RPG, in which there are many interesting solutions. During the game we go through the land of fantasy, perform tasks and fight enemies in turn-based battles, shown in isometric projection. The curiosity is that the hero can give birth to offspring. The children of the hero take over some of the traits of their parents.
