The game focuses primarily on survival aspects and the most important thing is to ensure that the protagonist has his basic needs satisfied and protected from such hazards as hunger, thirst, fatigue, radiation, or changing weather conditions. From among other titles in the genre, Hurtworld is distinguished by a protection system that evens out the chances of beginners and seasoned players. Another noteworthy feature is the punishment system — should a character who has killed many rivals die, he loses more valuable equipment than the others.

Another DLC for the crazy action game Goat Simulator released in 2014 by Coffee Stain. The Waste of Space expansion adds a completely new map to the game. The map is larger than anything that Goat Simulator and its expansions offered up until now. The new level consists of a large space area and of an alien planet with a colony on its surface. Typically for the Goat Simulator, there is no story per se. Instead, the game focuses on a typically sandbox gameplay model which is filled with absurd jokes and opportunities for having fun and engaging in combat. Chaos and destruction can be pursued not only on the surface of the planet and in space, but on space cruisers and space stations as well. The expansion also adds various futuristic technologies and a romance system which parodies the Mass Effect series.

RPG, 2D, Arcade Elements, Indie Games, Multiplayer, Splitscreen, Action RPG, Singleplayer, Tactics, Visual Novel.

A unique tactical RPG from independent American studio Supergiant Games. The story of Pyre is set in a mysterious land called Downside, which is a variation on the Christian idea of purgatory. The main protagonist is rescued by a trio of masked travelers, who ask him to help them in unveiling the truth about the so-called Rites – an unusual competition, in which the winners can earn pardon for their sins and be freed from Downside. Pyre’s gameplay contains two fundamental parts. We travel in a special coach that is also used to manage our companions and make decisions that affect the land and its inhabitants. However, there is another and more important part of the game, in form of skirmishes we take part in, which combines features of MOBA and sport titles. A team of three characters must get a hold of a special ball and take it to enemy’s base.

A MMO war game created by ICE Entertainment. The core of the gameplay are the naval battles for up to 32 players. The individual battles play out in real time, on more than 30 varied maps that are inspired by historical battles which took place during WWII. As a reward for victories, the players receive money that can be spent not only on upgrading the ships they own, but also to buy completely new vessels. In total, we can choose from 150 faithfully-recreated vessels, divided into six basic classes. Therefore, each side’s ranks are filled with destroyers, light or heavy cruisers, as well as dreadnoughts, air carriers, or even submarines. Steel Ocean includes different gameplay modes, from arcade modes in vein of MOBA games to realistic simulation modes. The key to success lies in adopting an appropriate strategy, depending on the location of the battle, environment, or weather conditions. The game is complemented by high-quality visuals, including polished ship models, changing weather conditions, and day-and-night cycle.

A third-person perspective exploration game about death and loneliness. It was developed by an independent developer who also created Home is Where one Starts. In The First Tree, the player follows two distinctly different characters: a female fox that is looking for her lost kids, and a pair of humans facing death of their closest ones. When controlling the fox, the player is traveling in search for the titular tree that hides the answer to the question about the source of life and the meaning of death. After some time, the player discovers the connection between the story of the animal and the humans. During most of the time the player is traveling through three-dimensional locations, discovering important places and finding items. The gameplay contains platform game sequences in which the protagonist must run and jump from one place to another. The First Tree can be completed in about two hours, although it depends on the player how much will they discover during that time. The title employs colorful, slightly comic book-like graphics.

Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair is a remastered version of the dynamic action game Earth Defense Force 2025. In Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair we play as a member of the titular organization that protects our planter from the invading species from space, just like in the previous games from the series. The game takes place in 2025, when Earth is once again attacked by the insectoid alien invaders. Before we can face them, we have to choose one from a couple of available classes, like the universal infantry soldier, air strike specialist or the heavy arms expert. No matter what class we decide to play as, we have a wide array of weapons at our disposal. Even though we cannot control them directly, tanks, helicopters, and mechs aid us in battle. The game focuses on fighting creatures that look like overgrown ants, hornets, even dragons, or armored vehicles. Along with the single player campaign, Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair offers multiplayer cooperative missions.

An original adventure game developed by Monsoon Lab. In Sara is Missing the player becomes a finder of a smartphone, whose owner has mysteriously gone missing. The task ahead of you is to discover the secret behind these events. Sara is Missing features unique gameplay mechanics – the User Interface looks like a mobile operating system and what you do is solve puzzles and talk to people from the phone’s contact list. Messages, notes, pictures, and videos found in the phone’s memory can help you out with this, and so can the in-game assistant. What adds to the game’s originality are the unusual graphics, made to look like a standard smartphone operating system.
