Ancestors Legacy: Saladin's Conquest is the first expansion to Ancestors Legacy, an RTS set in the real world, developed by the Polish studio Destructive Creations. The game introduces a new nation of Saracens to the game, as well as a related story campaign. The authors of the basic version are responsible for the development of this title. The publisher is 1C Entertainment.

The story of Ancestors Legacy: Saladin's Conquest focuses on the title character - Saladin, or rather Salah al-Din - the greatest sultan in the history of Egypt and Syria and the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty, which ruled various regions of the Middle East between the 12th and 14th century. The game tells the story of his first victories and conquests. There is no shortage of historical events here, such as the Battle of the Horns of Hattin and the siege of Jerusalem.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, Ancestors Legacy: Saladin's Conquest is no different than the basic version of the game - we are still dealing with a real-time strategy, in which we control the troops in battle and expand the base, thus gaining access to new tactical and strategic options (however, the emphasis is on combat - other aspects are slightly simplified).

The game introduces a new nation of Saracens to the game, along with their characteristic soldiers and war machines, such as Assassins, Grenadiers and Scorpions. The first unit specializes in close combat and has the ability to disguise itself (it hides from the enemy's sight until the enemy gets very close) and deadly traps, dealing damage over a certain area. The Grenadiers, on the other hand, as the name suggests, are ranged troop. They can fire exploding projectiles that devastate buildings and damage large groups of enemies. The third novelty - Scorpions - are the Saracen ballistae, with a different model and statistics.

Game modes

Ancestors Legacy: Saladin's Conquest can be played solo or with others. There is a five-mission story campaign. There are also novelties prepared for the multiplayer mode, in which we can play on three new maps.

Technical aspects

Ancestors Legacy: Saladin's Conquest does not introduce any significant changes in the audiovisual setting - we are still dealing with the same, nicely looking production, powered by Unreal Engine 4. Noteworthy are the designs of new units, which, as in the basic version, are characterized by a high level of detail and well reflect the climate of the presented era and nation.
