  • Character Development: The introduction of new characters like Athena and the evolution of existing characters, including Apollo and Phoenix, were highlighted positively. The interactions among characters were often described as fun and relatable.
  • Gameplay Mechanics: New mechanics such as the Perceive System, Mood Matrix, and Divination Séance added fresh elements to the gameplay, making investigations and courtroom battles more interactive.
  • Visual and Audio Quality: The remastered graphics and soundtracks received commendations, with many appreciating the improved visual style and the overall presentation of the games.
  • Value for Money: The inclusion of three full games, along with DLC content, was seen as a great value, especially for fans of the series.

The main cons of the game

  • Disconnection Between Games: Users noted that the games feel somewhat disconnected from one another, particularly criticizing Dual Destinies for not continuing the story arcs established in Apollo Justice.
  • Apollo's Role: A common critique was that Apollo often felt sidelined in his own trilogy, with players expressing disappointment that the focus shifted to other characters, especially Phoenix and Athena.
  • Handholding and Pacing Issues: Many reviews mentioned excessive handholding during investigations and trials, which detracted from the challenge of solving cases. Some cases were described as drawn-out or repetitive, leading to frustration.
  • 3D Model Transition: The shift from 2D sprites to 3D models in Dual Destinies was jarring for some players, with criticisms directed at character animations and the overall aesthetic compared to the original trilogy.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Cohesive Story Arcs: Players expressed a desire for a more interconnected narrative across the trilogy, feeling that the games could have benefited from deeper continuity and character development throughout.
  • Character Focus: Many wished for a stronger emphasis on Apollo as the main character, arguing that the narrative often shifted focus away from him to other protagonists, particularly in Dual Destinies.
  • Less Handholding: Several users wanted more challenging gameplay that required them to think critically and solve puzzles without excessive guidance or repetitive flashbacks.
  • Return of Fan-Favorite Characters: Some players missed certain characters from the original trilogy, such as Maya and Gumshoe, wishing for their inclusion or better integration into the new stories.

Summary

  • Overall, while the *Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy* is seen as a worthy continuation of the Ace Attorney series with engaging stories and characters, it faces criticism for pacing issues, character focus, and a lack of cohesive storytelling across the trilogy.
