Beyond Good & Evil is the next free game from Ubisoft; Beyond Good & Evil 2 in pre-production

Heads up for some Beyond Good & Evil news. The first installment will be offered for free on PC as a part of Ubi30 promotion starting next week. As for the sequel, Michel Ancel openly admitted that the game is early in the works.

Ubisoft’s celebration of their 30th anniversary continues. The next free game in line is the cult classic action-adventure Beyond Good & Evil, Ubisoft informed via Twitter. Jade’s original adventures will be offered at no cost on PC for a month starting October 12 – that is next week. Until then you can still pick up the PC version of The Crew, a successful open-world multiplayer racing game from Test Drive Unlimited creators, just head over to the Ubisoft Club website. After Beyond Good & Evil Ubisoft plans to give away two more games – one per month until the end of the year.

Speaking of Beyond Good & Evil, we feel obligated to mention the most recent news on the status of Beyond Good & Evil 2. Following his posting of a couple of images featuring anthropomorphic animals, Michel Ancel, the father of the franchise, openly admitted that the game is in pre-production (obviously meaning Beyond Good & Evil’s sequel). On the other hand, this means that we won’t see the next Beyond Good & Evil any time soon. Since the game is in pre-production, the originial concept apparently has been dumped. In that case, Beyond Good & Evil 2 may turn out to be a prequel after all, which we speculated about last week.
