A fantasy turn-based strategy game and a spiritual successor to Chaos: The Battle of Wizards and Lords of Chaos, which were released in 1985 and 1999 respectively. It was developed by their creator, Julian Gollop, also known for such productions as Laser Squad and UFO: Enemy Unknown. You play as a beginning wizard, who duels other players on procedurally generated maps.
Chaos Reborn for PC is a fantasy turn-based strategy game and a spiritual successor to Chaos: The Battle of Wizards (1985) and Lords of Chaos (1999). It was developed by the creator of the original games, Julian Gollop, who is also well-known from such classic productions as Laser Squad, the Rebelstar series, and UFO: Enemy Unknown.
Mechanics-wise, the game combines elements of its predecessors, although it also features many enhancements and novelties – such as a singleplayer mode – which the previous games lacked. In both the singleplayer mode and the multiplayer mode you play as a powerful wizard, who has to battle other wizards in turn-based duels. One multiplayer battle can involve up to 8 players and can be played either via the internet or a local network. There are several multiplayer mode sub-types, including e.g. the classic deathmatch and its team variation. You can also team up with other players and try fighting the AI.
The singleplayer campaign, titled “Kingdoms of Chaos,” takes place on a large maps, divided into regions controlled by the enemy wizards. You start as a beginning wizard and your task is to find and kill the Wizard King. First, however, you have to face his minions. With each victory, you upgrade your skills and learn new spells. Interestingly, the Wizard King and his minions also grow stronger, which means you have to hurry up with your conquest. The map in the campaign is procedurally generated. Every area has its own topography and randomly generated monsters and treasures. Moreover, all the enemy wizards have distinct characteristics and can use unique spells.
Chaos Reborn for PC utilizes the Unity engine, which allows for compatibility with mobile versions. The visuals are fully 3D, but do not require high-end hardware to work.
