Death of the Fallen

Death of the Fallen is the sequel to 2023's Lords of the Fallen. It was developed by Hexworks, a studio consisting of two branches (one in Barcelona, the other in Budapest) and published by CI Games, the developer's parent company. The game used to be known under the code name Project 3.

Mechanics

Gameplay-wise, Death of the Fallen is very similar to its predecessor. It's a soulslike action RPG in which we play as our own custom character. We start off choosing a class, which defines how we'll face off against enemies and bosses (with one-handed weapons, two-handed weapons, ranged weapons or magic).

As befitting a soulslike, death is a major mechanic in Death of the Fallen. After dying, we have only one chance to recover our currency, which also serves as experience. This means learning the enemies' patterns is extremely important. Exploring plays a major part in the game too, as it lets us level up, complete side quests and acquire better gear.

Technical aspects

Death of the Fallen runs on the Unreal Engine 5 and retains the previous game's dark fantasy artstyle. The camera is third-person, while other players can join us in multiplayer to help us or invade us.
