Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is an action game inspired by Japanese mythology. It was developed and published by Capcom.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is set in a fantasy world, during a conflict between the spirit and mortal realms. The main protagonist is the Spirit Stone Maiden, thrown into the middle of the conflict.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a third-person game (TPP). The player traverses atmospheric locations and dispatches hordes of enemies. Most of them are fantasy creatures from Japanese mythology. Apart from the cannon fodder we'll also face stronger opponents and mighty bosses. Combat is dynamic, requiring constant movement, dodging and varying up our skills, fighting in melee and casting powerful spells.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess runs on the RE Engine - Capcom's custom technology, developed for Resident Evil VII: Biohazard and enhanced in the following years. The visuals are extremely colorful, with the horrifying enemy designs being especially appealing.

The summer is in full swing, although this doesn't mean a lack of interesting releases. Nevertheless, get ready for a quiet month, during which you'll catch up and try out some new titles.
Trying a hands-on demo of Capcom’s vibrant and original Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess over the weekend at Summer Game Fest surprised me with how fun its unique combination of genres could be.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a breath of fresh air. Its tireless commitment to its aesthetic, and enticing, varied gameplay make for a memorable experience. One that is as charming as it is enthralling. In an era where Capcom largely produces remakes and sequels, games like Kunitsu-Gami are more important than ever. Every inch of Kunitsu-Gami feels deliberate, and the passion of those who developed it bleeds through. Kunitsu-Gami is carving a path forward for Capcom, and at the end of that path is a more creative gaming landscape.

Kunitsu-Gami isn’t particularly deep. However, it makes the most of all its many concepts, and outside the few dull moments of downtime, it’s always pushing you to think carefully and take in every part of its richly realized world. There’s genuinely nothing else like it, and I hope there’s more to come in the future.

I found myself enraptured by this game. Hooked on its combat-cum-strategy and constantly awed by the sights I saw, entertained by the steady flow of upgrades and the structure of the mission layouts. It broadened my horizons a little bit, if a game can do that. That can't be a bad thing, can it?
