Moonstone Island

Moonstone Island is an adventure game with RPG and life sim elements. It was developed by an indie Studio Supersoft.

Plot

Moonstone Island is set in a fantasy world. We play as a rookie alchemist leaving their hometown, embarking on a journey across floating islands to complete their alchemy training.

Mechanics

Moonstone Island makes use of the top-down perspective. The game's open world consists of over a hundred islands. The map is procedurally generated, meaning each playthrough is different than the last.

While traversing the landmasses we complete objectives and discover secrets hidden in the wild and the underground dungeons. In moments of downtime we can build and decorate a house, as well as grow plants, used to brew useful potions and tame various spirits.

The latter are especially useful when facing enemies. Combat is turn-based, having us play cards to summon astral beings and use their abilities. As we progress through the game, we recruit more spirits and develop our character, facing greater challenges.

During our travels across the islands we meet their friendly inhabitants. We can even establish relationships with them, which over time can bloom into love. Sooner or later, however, one must board a balloon, a blimp or a broom, heading to other islands to discover the wonders of the world.
