Mechanics

Rogue Legacy 2 develops ideas from the first part of the series. The basic gameplay mechanisms are therefore similar to platformers. During the game we explore two-dimensional locations, avoid threats, collect items and fight the enemies. The whole world is generated procedurally, so fresh challenges await us every time. In addition, there are RPG elements that allow you to develop your hero's stats and advance him to the next experience levels.

The gameplay is varied by the roguelike mechanisms. Every death is final, although like in the first part, it does not end the game at all, as we continue the adventure as a child of the fallen hero. The child must start from the beginning, but all dead enemies remain dead. Each descendant has unique characteristics that affect their abilities. Interestingly, if they are negative (e.g. overweight) it is rewarded with bonuses for the gold collected.

There are several character classes to choose from, offering unique weaponry. An additional attraction is the virtual residence, which we can expand and improve. It also provides the opportunity to train children to prepare them to continue their adventure after the death of a parent.

Game modes

Rogue Legacy 2 offers single player mode only.

Technical aspects

Just like the original, the game offers an attractive two-dimensional graphics design. The developers, however, have changed the style of the project. Rogue Legacy offered retro graphics with large pixels. The sequel was made in high resolution, in a style inspired by contemporary cartoons.
