Space Engineers for PC is a second consecutive project of a studio founded in 2010, Keen Software House, the creators of the arcade shooter, Miner Wars 2081. It is a space sandbox, utilizing a similar technology, but also developing it. Space Engineers was made available at an early stage of the production and has been regularly expanded ever since. For this reason, not all elements described below may be available in the current version of the game.

The action is placed in the future, but the developers relied on the contemporary achievements of NASA and did not create anything that is not possible to build within next 60 years. In the game, you play as an engineer and carry out the expansion of space stations, construction of buildings and ships, and also utilizing of the acquired resources and units. To do that, the players are offered a few tools and relatively easy to use interface.
