The Last Show of Mr. Chardish

Ars Fabulae is an action adventure game that focuses on the story - we play the role of an actress who tries to discover and understand a message left for her in an unusual form by an old friend. The game was developed and published by the Katowice-based studio Punk Notion (the company has published Weakless in the past).

Plot

In Ars Fabulae, we play the role of an actress who, years later, returns to an abandoned theatre in a British village and discovers that an old friend has left a message hidden for her in a series of magical performances. Each art presents separate stories, but refers to the events of the past and leads to a secret hidden in it. The message is linked to the old ambitions and dreams of both characters.

Mechanics

Ars Fabulae is an action adventure game in which we look at the world of the game from the third person perspective ( TPP). The core of the game is to explore locations that are linked to a each art "visited" by our heroine. Each map is very different from the other and their style is related to a given art - sometimes we travel through places that seem to be taken out of the picture, and sometimes through industrial corridors that resemble a big factory. Each time we take on a different role.

What's interesting, the gameplay also changes - sometimes the game is more like an action game, sometimes an adventure or a platformer. The main task of the player is to discover the story prepared by the developers, but this requires more than just watching animated scenes or reading dialogues - to reach everything we have to pay attention to the details. The locations are full of various hints and metaphors - almost nothing is meaningless here.

Game modes

In Ars Fabulae we can only play alone. The core of the game is a feature campaign.

Technical aspects

Ars Fabulae is characterized by interesting, three-dimensional graphics, which was created by using virtual reality technology. It should be noted that the proper game is played normally - it does not require VR goggles, they were simply used in the design of the graphics (the creators compare this process to painting), which was supposed to provide enormous freedom of expression. The locations have been designed in a significantly different style, which is related to the theme of the art.
