Dexter: Hidden Darkness lets us play as the titular serial murderer, who works for the Miami police as a forensics expert, hunting down people who deserve death to satisfy his own murderous instinct. The campaign provides several cases to solve and we must cooperate with the characters known from the series, such as Debra, Batista and Masuka. When we find our target, we don’t inform the police, but eliminate a target by ourselves. Our actions are limited by The Code of Harry – a set of rules left by Dexter’s step-father, which says he cannot kill an innocent man. Gameplay focuses on talking with characters, solving puzzles and challenges in which we look for certain hidden objects. The game features also simple multiplayer features.

When the foster father of the heroine dies while fighting a demonic opponent that tried to reenter our world, the protagonist becomes the last living member of the ancient Demon Hunter order and the only person that can face the enemy who is now stronger than ever. Mechanics-wise, the game doesn’t deviate from its predecessor’s or standard HOPA game solutions at all. The story, in the course of which we visit 31 varied locations, is enriched by numerous scenes with hidden objects and new mini-games that require great perceptiveness and the ability to think logically.
