Young Suns is a game that straddles the lines between sci-fi adventure titles and life simulations, developed by the creators of Goodbye Volcano High. In this title, we explore space, gather resources, and customize our spaceship, all while building relationships with NPCs. The game is fully playable either solo or in co-op mode.
KO_OP is an independent Canadian development studio with a portfolio that includes warmly received projects such as GNOG, Depanneur Nocturne, and Goodbye Volcano High. The game Young Suns described here is their another project. It blends elements of sci-fi adventure games and life simulations.
In Young Suns the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP).
The game is set in the space around Jupiter, where the inhabitants, after regaining their freedom, have gifted us a spaceship. We can use it to explore this part of the cosmos far and wide, either solo or with a crew of up to three people.
It is possible to discover things like asteroids, stations, and ruins. We explore individual objects on foot, gathering useful resources and unlocking various upgrades for our ship and the tools at our disposal.
The ship is not only our means of space transportation but also our base of operations. The game allows us to customize its appearance and equipment to our personal preferences using a wide range of furniture, decorations, and wall paints. Similarly, we can modify the appearance of our character.
Conversations with NPCs and completing quests assigned by them, as well as building relationships with them, play an important role here. Each character is equipped with a unique appearance and personality, which they express during daily conversations.
Young Suns can be played in singleplayer or in online co-op mode for up to 4 people.
The graphics of Young Suns are designed in a low poly style (and consequently, its individual elements are based on a relatively small number of polygons).
