God of War: When it's best to start exploring game world?

The world in God of War is really huge and full of mysteries. However, you'll quickly find out that many secrets are not available due to roots entangling chests or red crystals. This page of the guide explains when is it best to explore the game world.

1. Actually, you have two options - you can either explore the game world on the fly, visit more islands and slowly end the game, or focus on the main storyline and try to discover all the secrets after all of your missions. We recommend the first way of passing the game - by visiting more islands and new places, you activate Mystical Gates, so the potential of returning to a selected location will be very fast. In addition, you will strengthen Kratos when you do some extra activities and gain a mass of hidden equipment.
2. After completing "The Sickness" mission you will be able to reach most of the secrets in the game. Some locations will still be inaccessible, but you are able to visit a lot of lands and get access to a lot of secrets.
3. It is a great pleasure to visit the islands on the Shores of Nine - with time, more and more lands will be available for exploration. On the river you will also find objects that will permanently increase some of the Kratos' stats.
4. Many secrets await you in the Witch's Cavern. Remember that you will find a list of all the secrets in a separate section in this guide.
