Looks like they're keeping busy. With The Alters coming soon, 11 bit studios is already getting started on two new games.
The team behind This War of Mine and the Frostpunk series isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The Alters is right around the corner, and they recently showed off a new gameplay trailer during the Triple-I Interactive event. While Frostpunk 2 didn’t quite live up to players’ expectations and wasn’t a big financial success, 11 bit studios is already making another game set in the same universe.
According to a report from PAP Biznes on April 16, 11 bit studios managed to turn a small profit in 2024, a nice step up from the year before. Even though they pulled in a lot more revenue thanks to Frostpunk 2 and continued sales of their older titles. Still, they took a big hit on the operating side. A lot of that came from scrapping a game (codenamed Project 8+) and lowering the value of The Thaumaturge and Creatures of Ava, which didn’t hit the mark. That ended up weighing down their overall results.
Przemyslaw Marszal of 11 bit studios stated in a press release that the gaming market is currently undergoing significant changes. In response, the company plans to diversify its projects in terms of both scale and development time, while also capitalizing on nearby, financially promising opportunities. He added:
Therefore, the decision to produce another project in the "Frostpunk" universe, which is already underway. We plan to make the game debut in 2027. At the same time, we initiated work on a slightly larger title, which will debut in 2029
Even though their 2024 results weren’t as strong as hoped – for themselves or their investors – the company says they’re in good financial shape. They’re confident that, even with all the investments going into new games, their cash situation will look even better by the end of 2025.
With The Alters set to release on June 13, 2025 (fingers crossed there aren’t any more delays!), there’s still plenty of time to bounce back financially this year. If you tried the demo, you know the game’s looking really promising. Sure, launching a new IP is always a bit of a gamble, but I honestly think this one’s got what it takes.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
