$2300 for GeForce RTX 3090 - New Leaks

A leak that appeared on the Chinese-speaking forum ChipHell suggests that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 - the top card of the Ampere line - will cost over $2000.

Ampere will take a toll on our wallets.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. A rumor posted on the Chinese-speaking forum ChipHell suggests that the high-end GeForce RTX 3090 may cost over $2000;
  2. This is an unconfirmed leak.

There have been further leaks on the web about a ne GPU from Nvidia, the GeForce RTX 3090. Reports published by user Alienxzy on ChipHell forum (via Guru3D) concern two variants of this chipset created by Colorful. The devices differ in cooling system. More expensive VulcanX OC is to have a traditional fan and be priced at 15 999 yuan (about $2300). For the cheaper Neptune we will have to pay 14 999 yuan (about $1250). Interestingly, the latter is to be liquid cooled.

Let's note that we're talking about Chinese prices, which are said to have appeared in JD store. In fact, it's hard to say how these revelations will affect other countries, but it is to be expected that if they are confirmed, we will have to pay a hefty amount for the models in question. It is worth noting that the GeForce RTX 3090 will probably be the equivalent of GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, which can be purchased today (a few years after its launch) for from $1200 upwards. The aforementioned Ampere GPUs are to be high-end custom designs - the base variant will probably be slightly cheaper.

Finally, it should be noted that the above information is only a rumor and should be treated as such. Everything seems to indicate that we will know the details of the new GPUs in a few weeks, on September 1.
