Fortnite With Improved Visuals and New System Requirements on PC

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite will receive a graphics-enhancing update at the start of Season 7. This means a change in the game's minimum system requirements on PC.

The seventh season of Fortnite launches in 4 days, on June 8. Along with its start Epic Games' title is to receive an update improving the graphics. Changes are to be visible especially on "epic" settings and touch on effects related to storms, clouds and fire, smoke and liquid simulations, as well as improve the quality of lens flare, blur and shadows.

The visual enhancements come with an increase in the recommended system requirements for the game on PC. While Fortnite won't suddenly require an RTX 3080 Ti-like monster to run, if we want to enjoy all of the graphical bells and whistles, we have to make sure our rig can handle them.

Fortnite PC - recommended system requirements (for "epic" settings):

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 / AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 with 8GB VRAM / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT with 8GB VRAM
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Operating System: Windows 10 version 64-bit

It's also worth mentioning that as of June 8, the "high" graphics settings will match the "epic" ones from before the update. On the other hand, the system requirements for "medium" and "low" settings will remain the same as before. As a reminder, here they are:

Fortnite PC - recommended system requirements (so far):

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-7300U 3.5 GHz
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 980 with 2 GB VRAM / AMD R9 280 with 2 GB VRAM
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Operating System: Windows 10 version 64-bit

Fortnite PC - minimum system requirements (so far):

  • Processor: Intel Core i3-3225 3.3 GHz
  • Graphics Card: Intel HD 4000
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Operating System: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit

The theme for season 7 of Fortnite will be aliens. So far we have not yet learned the purpose of their visit, but as they kidnap players, they do not seem to have good intentions.
