Take-Two Plans 62 New Games, Including New IP by Firaxis

Take-Two Interactive revealed some secrets about its plans for the future. We found out that Firaxis, the studio known from the Civilization series is working on a new IP and when we can expect the next project from the devs of Borderlands.

During the presentation of last year's financial results (which we wrote about in a separate news item) Take-Two Interactive also discussed its plans for the next few years, whish seem to be very ambitious. Over the next three years the publisher intends to release as many as 62 new productions.

Of these, 21 are to be released by March 31, 2022. 4 of them will be high-budget projects, 10 will be mobile games, 6 will be refreshed versions of older titles and one will be a game from an independent developer.

These numbers don't tell us much, but the presentation also included information about what the publisher's various teams are doing. We learned that Firaxis is working on several projects to be revealed this year. We know that a new IP is among them. Fans are also speculating that the developer has plans for XCOM 3 and may be preparing to announce the next DLC for Sid Meier's Civilization VI or a spin-off to the series (something like Beyond Earth).

In addition, by the end of March 2022, we should see a new game that will start a new series from Gearbox Software. The team was acquired by the Embracer group in February this year, but this should not affect the developer's cooperation with Take-Two Interactive. The publisher mentioned that sales of Borderlands 3 have already exceeded 13 million copies.

This is the end of details, but it is worth mentioning an interesting analysis prepared by PC Gamer, whose editors tried to predict what titles will be included in the 62 announced projects. According to them, by the end of March 2022 we will get not only a new Gearbox game, but also the aforementioned new IP from Firaxis and a mysterious title supervised by the father of the BioShock series - Ken Levine. In addition, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are to receive Red Dead Redemption 2, Mafia: Definitive Edition and Grand Theft Auto III: 20th Anniversary Editionprepared to celebrate the 20th anniversary of GTA 3.
