New Update for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Introduces Transmog

Tomorrow, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will soon receive update 1.2.0, adding new skills, camera settings, an Easter event, numerous fixes, and the long-awaited transmogrification.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Tomorrow around 5:00 AM PT, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will receive patch 1.2.0;
  • The update will introduce, among other things: new skills, an alternative camera setting and transmog;
  • Ubisoft also announced the Ostara Festival, an Easter event that will begin on March 18.

It's been four months since the release of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Ubisoft's game launched with many smaller and larger bugs, but the devs managed to eliminate some of them during this time. This does not mean the end of support for the game - the latest AC is to be supported longer than previous installment. However, the French do not intend to limit themselves to just patches. The latest patch brings several new skills, an alternative camera setting, the Easter event, as well as transmog, which fans have been asking for for some time. The patch will weigh between 12 and 18 GB depending on the platform.

The game will feature three new skills: Fearless Leaper, Raven's Loot, and Loot Food. The first will increase area of effect damage and remove the height limit on how high we can perform a drop down attack from. The second will automatically pick up items dropped by enemies killed from a distance. The third will increase the chance of finding food near the bodies of slain enemies.

Close Camera will change the default view from behind Eivor's back to over his/her shoulder. However, the setting will not be usable in combat - after the start of the battle everything will return to normal. It seems to be Ubisoft's reaction to the possibility of modifying the game's files on PC, which was discovered by the players, and which we informed about here. To enjoy a camera similar to that of the last installment of God of War, just change the value of one parameter in the ACValhalla.ini file. You could say that the French have not could have done better... but since console players do not have the opportunity to go through the game files, we will let this one slide.

And finally - transmog, or the ability to change the appearance of items to those we like best, while retaining their statistics. Since in AC: Valhalla, new iron doesn't rain down from dead enemies - unlike in AC: Odyssey, which featured transmogs - the players have been asking Ubisoft for this feature for quite some time. It will finally be given to them, but not for free. To change the appearance of an item, we'll have to go to our settlement, to Gunnar the blacksmith, and pay him 50 pieces of silver.

Spring is coming, so Ubisoft is also preparing an event in their game. The Ostara Festival is set to begin this Thursday, on March 18, and will offer floral decorations for Ravensthorpe, unique side activities - such as Easter egg hunts - and special rewards. The publisher has promised to reveal more information before the event launches.

Did you know...?

Ostara, from which Ubisoft borrowed the name for its event, is a so-called Little Sabbath, celebrated by pagan Germans and followers of neo-pagan religions between March 21 and 23 (in the northern hemisphere) or between September 21 and 23 (in the southern hemisphere). The celebration marks the beginning of spring, the moment when the day begins to win out over the night, which was a cause for joy and happy fornication. The face of the festival was to be the goddess Ostara (Eostre), who was imagined as a young girl in a white robe and with a garland of spring flowers in her hair. The goddess' sacred animal was the hare, and the feast - whose symbol was believed to be the egg, signifying rebirth and new life - was associated with the planting of trees, flowers and herbs. It sounds kinda familiar, doesn't it?

The update will also include a number of smaller fixes - including for the recently introduced River Raids. Some of these will fix bugs, others will improve game balance, and some will... well, don't be surprised if you run into more cats while exploring England. You can check out the full list of changes that the 1.2.0 update will bring to the game here.
