Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3 Inbound; Expected to Weigh Up to 40 GB

Baldur's Gate 3 will soon receive Patch 8. Larian Studios reported that it will weigh as much as 40 GB. However, it was not revealed what the new update will introduce.

After nearly twenty-one months in early access and seven major updates Baldur's Gate III is looking more and more like a great RPG that the fans of the series have been dreaming of. The next step towards this will be made in the coming weeks. Larian Studios has announced Patch 8, which is expected to "weigh" as much as 40 GB. Thus, the total size of the game will increase to about 104 GB.

The developer has not yet provided details of the upcoming update or its debut date; only by its size one can guess that it will provide a ton of new stuff. What's more, the developers intend to bring order to the game versions available on Steam (most likely, this also applies to the edition available on GOG.com). As a result, after the release of Patch 8, only the three most recent editions of the game will be playable.

This is significant insofar as save game data from one version is not compatible with saves from another. So if you are currently playing Baldur's Gate III and you do not want to lose the progress, follow this this instruction (the safest solution, of course, is to make a backup copy of the save files).
