In just two days - over a month after its release on PC - Baldur's Gate III will make its debut on PS5. However, as you know, players who decided to purchase the Deluxe edition of Larian Studios' latest game, can enjoy it since yesterday. Thanks to them we learned, how the game works on the PS5.

It offers two graphic modes - performance and quality.

  1. The former targets 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution, scaled up to slightly higher. Unfortunately, the game often displays only 40-50 fps. Moreover, the so-called "screen tearing" is noticeable.
  2. In the second mode, the native resolution is 1440p, and the frame rate is locked at 30 - and is maintained for the vast majority of the time.
  3. If you intend to play in split-screen co-op mode, your choice will be limited to quality mode (the second one described).

It is worth mentioning that Larian Studios has stipulated that in the third act of the game, performance on the PS5 will be slightly worse than in the other two. The developer is working on fixes, but it's unclear when exactly to expect them.

Later in 2023 Baldur's Gate III is also expected to be released on XSX/S. The delay compared to the game's PS5 release came from the inability to implement the aforementioned split-screen co-op mode on the Xbox Series S. It will probably be added after the game is released.
