Battlefield 1 open beta is live, no PS Plus required

You can now play Battlefield 1 open beta on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Players can test one of the multiplayer maps, Sinai Desert, along with two classic modes: Conquest and Rush.

Up until now Battlefield 1 has been showcased at this year’s E3 and gamescom, and there are hours of gameplay footage from the game online. But the time has finally come for every fan to have a hands-on experience with this next installment in one of the world’s most popular first-person shooters. Battlefield 1 open beta is now live across all target platforms: PC (Origin), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Interestingly, you don’t need a PS Plus subscription in order to join the beta on PS4. On the other hand, if you want to play it on XONE, you are going to need Xbox Live Gold account. Currently there is no info on when the beta ends.

Battlefield 1 beta is multiplayer only. It features Sinai Desert map, where the British and the Ottoman Empire fight for dominance in two classic game modes: Conquest (64 players) and Rush (24 players). While plaing on the Sinai Desert you can make use of horses, tanks and other vehicles as well as planes. Check out a Rush game with Ultra graphics settings as posted by Shacknews:

An interesting addition in Battlefield 1, which is also available in the beta, is the elite class system. There are three of them: Flame Trooper, Sentry, and Tank Hunter. They are tougher than other soldiers and have special gear and weapons as well as unique strengths and weaknesses. In order to become one you have to find and pick up a special weapon crate. Here is a video by Arekkz explaining the elite classes and giving tips on where to find them on the Sinai Desert map:

Battlefield 1 is coming out on October 21, 2016 for PC, PS4, and XONE. As always, the game is going to get four paid post-launch DLCs included in the Season Pass. The first one is going to feature the French army in March 2017.
