More Death Animations in Callisto Protocol for Extra Money [UPDATE: Schofield Responds]

The release of The Callisto Protocol is fast approaching. As a result, we are receiving more and more information about the game. This time the new news will not necessarily please gamers who do not like to pay extra.

Update (November 24, 2022)

Striking Distance director Glen Schofield has addressed the information related to the season pass for The Callisto Protocol. According to the studio's CEO, the developers will in no way truncate the base game to sell this content in the paid season pass.

Schofield says that work has not even begun on the aforementioned additions. They are to be created in response to requests from players themselves, wanting more carnage.

It's just a shame that the studio is making itself pay to fulfill fans' dreams.

Original message (November 23, 2022)

The Callisto Protocol is certainly one of the most anticipated productions of the year. Admittedly, horror fans seem to be waiting mainly for a remake of the first Dead Space, but perhaps it is the work of Striking Distance that will prove to be the winner in this list. The problem is, however, that if you want to enjoy the full game, you will be forced to pay extra..

The Callisto Protocol will receive a season pass, which will offer not only the basic content, but new story DLC, additional areas and modes.. Not only that, but the season pass will also introduce new death animations for the protagonist and his enemies (all information about this is available on Steam).

The Callisto Protocol - season pass content

  • "Outer Way Skin Collection: Bear the armor of the Outer Way, an underground insurgency pitted against the UJC, as you fight to survive the horrors of Callisto.
  • Contagion Bundle: Discover the ultimate survival horror experience with a new mode, Contagion. With reduced ammo and health drops, a customized difficulty and permadeath – there are no second chances to escape Black Iron Prison or the horrors lurking beneath the surface of Callisto. The Contagion Bundle also includes thirteen new Jacob death animations and the Watchtower Skin Collection.
  • Riot Bundle: Venture into a previously undiscovered area of Black Iron Prison and battle through waves of brutal enemies. Gather credits to upgrade your weapons, or forge new ones, and survive the onslaught as long as you can in Riot, an all-new mode. The Riot Bundle also includes twelve new enemy death animations and the Engineer Skin Collection.
  • Story DLC: Dig deeper into the horrifying secrets of The Callisto Protocol."

All the listed benefits (especially the last one) are certainly an undeniable treat for fans of bloody games. So you will have to decide for yourself whether you want to spend the extra money just to get the opportunity to interact more deeply with The Callisto Protocol.

The Callisto Protocol - trophy list (it won't be easy)

Also worth mentioning is the recent leak of the trophy list from Striking Distance's game. Players who will be interested in getting platinum in The Callisto Protocol, must prepare for a considerable challenge (the entire list can be found here).

Speaking of leaks, someone on Resetera forum published a 13-minute gameplay from Callisto Protocol. Unfortunately, the footage was quickly removed due to copyright infringement, but before that happened, users of the website managed to praise the title for its amazing looks (via Insider-Gaming).

Finally, let's add that The Callisto Protocol will debut on December 2. The work of Striking Distance will arrive on PC, PS5, PS4, XSX/S and Xbox One.
