Civilization 6 DLC Will Add Zombies and Portugal

Thanks to Steam database, fans have discovered that the latest DLC from the New Frontier Pass for Civilization 6 will introduce Portugal as a playable faction. There will also most likely be a gameplay mode revolving around zombies.

SteamDB, a website that gathers information from Valve's databases, is often an excellent source of information on unannounced projects. The latest example of this was the discovery of the content from the upcoming DLC for Sid Meier's Civilization VI, a turn-based strategy game from Firaxis.

Chris Davenport pointed out that elements related to the Achievements featured in the sixth and final expansion included in the New Frontier pass have been added to the database. It follows that the new faction introduced in the DLC will be Portugal, whose leader will most likely be John III of Portugal. In addition, the DLC will offer zombies. It is not known in what context the living dead will appear, but we assume that it's about an alternative mode revolving around them. It's worth noting that this wouldn't be the debut of the undead in the sixth Civilization, as previously creatures of this type appeared in the battle royale mode Red Death, added in the 2019 patch.

As part of the New Frontier pass, new DLC is released on average every two months. The previous expansion, the Vietnam & Kublai Khan Pack, was released in late January, so fans were expecting to receive the next addition in March. The fact that Achievements has already started appearing in Steam database suggests that these predictions will prove accurate.

Of course, until the official announcement of the DLC all this information should be approached with caution. However, it's worth remembering that the devs Firaxis themselves made the changes discovered by fans via SteamDB, so we'd be surprised if reports of Portugal and zombies turn out to be wrong.

The New Frontier pass caused some controversy when it was announced, but it proved to be very popular. So it wouldn't be a big surprise if the developers announced another season after the release of the last of the add-ons.
