Cyberpunk 2077 Continues to Divide and Conquer on Steam

Last week, Cyberpunk 2077 once again earned the title of the best-selling product on Steam. The game is doing great despite the ongoing winter sale and the controversy over glitches and poor technical condition.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Cyberpunk 2077 still ranks first on Steam's list of best-sellers;
  2. The game dominated the list for another week in a row, despite the on-going winter sale and the controversy surrounding the release.

Steam listed as the most popular products of the past week. First place on the list is still occupied by Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED's game overtook Sea of Thieves (2nd place), Valve Index VR Kit (Valve's VR set, 3rd place).

This is an impressive result, considering the fact that the game debuted over three weeks ago. What's more, before Christmas, the Steam Winter Sale 2020 started, where many interesting items can be purchased at attractive prices (but not Cyberpunk 2077). It is worth mentioning that the discussed top 10 is calculated based on generated revenues (among other things, hence the high position of Valve Index VR Kit), which makes it somewhat easier for new titles to be on the list.

Cyberpunk 2077 debuted on December 10. Apart from PCs, the game is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S (for Sony platforms, currently in physical edition). Unfortunately, the console edition stands out from the PC version in terms of technical condition (or rather the lack thereof), which has become a source of great controversy and has given rise to several class actions against CD Project. Luckily, the work of the Polish company is already being patched up and now works noticeably better than on the day of its release, although the developers still have a lot of work left to do - two major updates are scheduled to be released in January and February.

It is also worth mentioning the reception of Cyberpunk 2077 by the players - ratings on Steam have again reached 79/100, with over 300,000 people having posted a core. In the last 24 hours over 212 thousand users played the game on Valve's platform - a result much lower than the record-breaking million, but still impressive.
