Cyberpunk 2077 With New Director

Gabriel Amatangelo has replaced Adam Badowski as the director of Cyberpunk 2077 and will be responsible for the expansions of the said title. At the same time, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the game's quests director, has parted ways with CD Projekt RED.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Gabriel Amatangelo is the new director Cyberpunk 2077 and will be responsible for the expansion packs;
  2. The developer joined CD Projekt RED in early 2020, having previously worked at BioWare, among other studios;
  3. At the same time Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the quests director of Cyberpunk 2077, left the team.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a new director - Gabriel Amatangelo (via GamesIndustry). The developer has replaced Adam Badowski, who will now take on other responsibilities in CD Projekt RED - e.g. the implementation of the RED 2.0 strategy which will enable the Polish company to create several AAA titles at the same time.

Gabriel Amatangelo joined CD Projekt RED in January 2020 and served as creative director on Cyberpunk 2077. In the course of his career he worked, among others, in the well-known company BioWare (in the years 2010-2015). There he dealt with expansions for Dragon Age: Inquisition (he was the project director) and Star Wars: The Old Republic (as chief designer). The developer will now be responsible for expansions for Cyberpunk 2077.

However, this is not all the news connected with CD Projekt RED. Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the quests director of Cyberpunk 2077, who previously also worked on Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales and the so-called Homecoming project, a series of large updates for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, which changed many fundamental aspects of the title (in both these cases he was the game director).

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December last year. The title sparked a lot of controversy, mainly due to the deplorable condition of the console versions (it was so bad that Sony decided to pull the game from PlayStation Store and the title has not returned to this platform of digital distribution until today).
