Dead Space Remake Without Microtransactions and Loading Screens

Dead Space remake creators revealed new details about the project. We found out, among others, that the game will have no microtransactions and the changes the remake will offer.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • The game will not use microtransactions;
  • Generally, it's supposed to be a faithful remake, but we can expect improvements in the scenario and gameplay, including solutions taken from later installments;
  • During the game we won't see any loading screens;
  • All elements of the game - both graphic and sound - are created from scratch, nothing has been ported from the original;
  • The game is still at an early stage of work.

One of the most interesting events of yesterday's EA Play Live 2021 turned out to be the announcement of the remake of Dead Space, the refreshed version of the classic science fiction horror game. Only a vague teaser was shown, but a few hours later an interview with the developers appeared on IGN, in which much more details were revealed.

First of all, the developers confirmed that the various elements of the game were designed from scratch. Nothing from the original from 2008 was ported to the new engine. No upgraded old models or textures will appear in the game. All animations were also recorded from scratch. At the same time, the priority is to make sure that the entire graphic design of the remake remains faithful to the unique style of the brand.

A similar approach was used in the case of sound effects - they were recorded from scratch, but retaining the atmosphere of the original. What's more, the addition of 3D audio technology is to provide a higher level of immersion.

The devs also informed that the game will not feature any microtransactions. It's a good news, especially taking into account how negatively their presence was received in Dead Space 3.

The devs want to remain faithful to the plot of the original. It is canon for them, which does not mean that there will be no novelties. That said, the developers draw in handfuls from subsequent installments, as well as books, comics and animated films connected with the brand, which should result in a better story. The same is with the gameplay. Some solutions introduced only in Dead Space 2 or Dead Space 3 may appear in the remake. The evolution of the system of dismembering enemies was also promised, but it was not revealed what changes we can expect.

The game is to be devoid of loading screens. New Dead Space is designed in such a way that it's possible to play through the whole campaign from the beginning to the end without any pauses in the game enforced by loading or hiding sequences in which the players are deprived of the control over the character.

EA Motive is responsible for the project. Many developers from this team are fans of Dead Space, but the creators also use the help of ordinary fans. Consultations with members of the community worked perfectly in the case of Command & Conquer Remastered and Command & Conquer: Red Alert Remastered, so Electronic Arts wants to repeat this process.

Unfortunately, the remake of Dead Space is still a long way off, as the development is at an early stage. The game is going to launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
