Deathloop Gameplay From QuakeCon Presents PvP mode

During QuakeCon, developers from Arkane Lyon shared many new details about their latest game, Deathloop. We get to know more about the PvP mode and the game mechanics.

The release of Deathloop is fast approaching - already on September 14 we will see the game on PlayStation 5 and PC. On August 5, the developers announced that the game has gone gold, so the only thing left for them is to advertise it properly. During yesterday's panel at QuakeCon, Arkane Lyon employees shared a lot of new information in a 25-minute video. The developers talk extensively about the main antagonist Julianna and how the online PvP mode affects the story campaign.

In the game's menu, we'll have a choice of playing as Julianna and protecting the eponymous time loop by joining someone else's game, or we'll want to break the endless string and control Colt in his own story campaign. The game's director explained the differences between the characters in the game - when choosing Julianna, we have only one life, while the male character will be reborn twice, so he can take more risks. When playing as Colt, we don't have to fight Julianna, but we will be encouraged to do so by useful items, which we can get after her death, and the very fact of competing with a living player. When asked why players would still want to play as Julianna, Arkane's director said that it's a unique experience to take on the role of the antagonist and it's all about having fun.

Later in the panel you'll hear more about the characters and their motivations - the developers assure us that there will be plenty of humor in the game. The campaign's designer described the story as a "murder puzzle," – in Deathloop we will have to plan how to eliminate all our targets in one day. The designer assured that the game offers a lot of freedom and users will be able to discover elements of Deathloop's world in the order of their choice.

The game promises to be interesting both in terms of story and mechanics - the possibility of being an antagonist in someone else's story campaign sounds quite interesting. Are you waiting for the release?
