Deathloop is Follow Up to Dishonored; Shared World Confirmed

Fan speculation has turned out to be true. Developers from Arkane have confirmed that Deathloop and the Dishonored series are set in the same universe.

Arkane has confirmed fan theories, announcing that Deathloop and the Dishonored series are set in the same universe.

  1. This fact was revealed in Larry Hryb's podcast, better known as Major Nelson.
  2. Harvey Smith from Arkane Austin and Dinga Bakaba from Arkane Lyon participated in the conversation. The latter admitted that in Deathloop many small elements have been placed to suggest a connection between the two brands.
  3. He also confirmed that Deathloop is set in a later period of this world, after the events of Dishonored: Death of the Outsider.
  4. The developers didn't announce this right away, as they wanted Deathloop could stand on its own feet, instead of evoking the older brand. Indeed, the game is a separate production, with its own story and unique atmosphere. However, it presents a vision of a world transformed by the death of the Oytsider.
  5. The devs also wanted players to have fun finding connections between Deathloop and Dishonored and to discover the truth on their own.

Recall that Deathloop debuted last September on PlayStation 5 and PC. In turn, last month, the game finally made its way to the Xbox Series X/S as well. At the same time, the title was made available as part of the Game Pass subscription, both on PC and XSX/S.

The release on Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass was also accompanied by the release of the Golden Loop update, which introduced new weapons, upgrades and enemy types to the game, as well as expanded the ending and implemented a cross-play feature.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that Deathloop is part of the latest bundle of Humble Choice. The bundle costs $11.99, and also includes, among others, Maid of Sker, The Dark Pictures: Little Hope and Disciples: Liberation.
