We have already seen numerous games set in Greek mythology like Titan Quest or Hades. Despite being released in 2022, Unreal Engine 5 still appears to be an untamed beast that bites ferociously both, developers and players alike. The last victim of this wild animal is Wuchang Fallen Feathers that struggles to deliver not only acceptable performance, but also poses a challenge to play at all, due to numerous issues like Fatal Errors and shader crashes. Keep in mind that “Out of video memory” error is a separate issue, not related directly to UE5, though still boiling down to the same result. There are a couple of standard methods of dealing with such issues.

First of all, let’s tackle a known problem of “Out of video memory” error. It is an issue that stems from the 13th and 14th generation of Intel processors and the only solution for it, is to update your motherboard’s BIOS to the latest version. You should refer to your motherboard’s manufacturer’s official website and install the most recent BIOS according to instructions included on said page.

When it comes to Fatal Error and shader crashes, the situation is a lot more ambiguous, as it is most probably related to Unreal Engine itself and it’s not really clear what to do. In one of the Steam posts on game’s Community Hub, the developers advise to double check if your device’s drivers are up to date. If that doesn’t cut it, it is recommended to reinstall the title.

On Wuchang’s publisher support site, there are numerous help articles that can be of use:

1. The game keeps crashing/freezing/going to a black screen
2. Stuttering, crashes, or failure to launch
3. The game crashes while compiling shaders
