A Chinese TPP soulslike, set in the Shu land from the late Ming dynasty period. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers allows us to play as the titular female warrior, fighting frightening monsters and trying to learn about her curse. We develop the heroine and expand her arsenal.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike action RPG that draws heavily from both the soulslike genre and the history of the Middle Kingdom. The game was developed by the Chinese studio Leenzee.
In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game we explore various locations, among which there are abandoned temples and ruined settlements, as well as dark wilderness. While traversing them, we fight fierce and dynamic battles with opponents, led by terrifying monsters acting as bosses.
On the battlefield, we must not only dodge and launch accurate attacks, but also observe enemies in search of weak points and gaps in their defense. We eliminate enemies using melee weapons and various combat skills. Our arsenal can be strengthened using powerful spells and we expand the range of abilities by using a substance called red mercury.
Along the way, we gradually learn more about the game world and the characters inhabiting it (among which there is no shortage of potential allies), and we also get to know the protagonist's past. From time to time, the game also allows us to make decisions that affect the further fate of the heroine and the entire land.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers takes us to an alternative version of historical China, specifically - to the land of Shu from the dark and turbulent times of the late Ming dynasty, destroyed as a result of civil wars and the invasion of monsters straight from the worst nightmares.
The main character of the game is a female pirate warrior named Wuchang, who not only struggles with amnesia, but also suffers from a terrifying disease called ornitropy. While traveling through Shu, the protagonist must challenge the darkness that threatens this land and discover the truth about the curse that binds it. How her dangerous adventure will unfold and end largely depends on the choices we make.

Saving Content: 4 / 5 by Lucas Moura
Nevertheless, even with my reservations about the early game, how annoyed and broken I became with the madness mechanic, it’s a great debut title for any developer. Moreso one that’s trying to break into the nowadays extremely crowded soulslike space. It will be painful at the beginning, but the pain will be worth it.
Screen Hype: 7.5 / 10 by JT Hussey
Besides its unobtrusive story, Wuchang boasts some fairly stellar combat variety. Between spells that recharge on dodges and special hits, combat disciplines that function like equippable skills, and an easily respecable skill tree, Wuchang incentivizes experimentation and success. To specify, while other souls games would force you to commit to a single build for an entire run, Wuchang lets you switch classes and weapon reinforcement immediately and without consequence. For example, though I enjoyed most of my run as an axe-wielding strength main, after encountering Commander Honglan, who outran most of my attacks, I switched to Longswords and learned to parry nearly every one of her attacks until victory.
GameSpew: 8 / 10 by Richard Seagrave
Thanks to its stunning visuals, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers certainly makes a good first impression. Its gameplay is what will keep you hooked in the long-run, though, even if it is perhaps a little too derivative of the early Souls games by FromSoftware. Still, being able to freely respec your character here is a fantastic touch, allowing you to experiment if a boss is proving to be a tough cookie to crack.
