Doom looks even better on new screenshots

Bethesda released a couple of screenshots from Doom, the next upcoming installment in the cult FPS series. The title looks even better now than on early presentations.

Apart from the real tasty gameplay, the new Doom is going to show off truly impressive visuals. The next incarnation of the cult FPS series will be the first game powered by the newest version of id Software’s advanced graphics technology called id Tech 6 Engine. According to John Carmack, it will be very efficient at storing 2D data and 3D geometry, allowing for displaying lots of geometric details in a game. An example of that is the unprecedented level of dismemberment of enemies we could watch in early gameplay videos.

Now you can admire a couple of newly released screenshots. It seems that over the last couple of months id Software managed to further improve Doom’s graphics, as well as decided to tone down the colors. A handful of screenshots are posted below, for more visit our gallery.

Neat, aren’t they? Doom has no standing release date yet, but a recent rumor has it that the game may launch on June 30th – this date was spotted on Amazon France (now changed), but it might as well have been only a placeholder.
