Planetary Landings not only lets you land on the surface of planets, but also makes it worthwhile.

According to David Braben’s plans announced a couple of days back, Elite: Dangerous - Horizons is going to become available later today. Well, not in its entirety, as initially it will only offer the first out of several planned DLCs, making it a sort of ‘Early Access’ title. This new season of gameplay expansions for the last year’s space simulator from Frontier Development opens up with Planetary Landings DLC. As the title suggests, this will enable players to smoothly land on the surface of planets (no loading screens) and move around onboard a Surface Recon Vehicle. Check out the new trailer to see how it looks in action:

Elite: Dangerous - Horizons is available in the developer’s official store for $59.99/L39.99/€49.99 – this grants access to all the content from the base game, plus several future expansions. The existing owners of Elite: Dangerous can buy this new version with a 25% discount.

In the future Horizons will introduce new content packs, which should be as meaningful as Planetary Landings. The second one is said to bring about a revolutionary loot and crafting system – it should arrive some time in Q1 2016.
