Forgotten RPG Is Still Being Developed. Devs Break Nearly 2-Year Silence and Remind About Project Awakening
Written off by many players, Project Awakening is still in development. After a long hiatus, the developers have revived their fantastic RPG.
Did you hear about the game codenamed Project Awakening? The Japanese studio Cygames revealed this RPG set in a fantastic world back in 2016. However, over the past few years, the devs have been very sparing with information about the title, releasing only a few materials, and that - it's worth noting - at a significant interval. It turns out that despite approximately two years of silence on the part of the developers, Project Awakening is still being developed.
At least that's what the Cygames studio assured us, reminding about the game on X today. Although the devs didn't present a new trailer, they claim that fans waiting for their RPG will receive new details in the coming months.

Determining whether the developers are signaling the beginning of a more aggressive marketing campaign and the upcoming release of the game, or simply presenting a single trailer before going silent for years again, is difficult. Some more critical internet users might say that it's time for the release of a new video this year, as Cygames typically releases them every 3 years, and the next one is expected in 2026.
Project Awakening is supposed to be an action RPG in which we will traverse an open world full of large, dangerous creatures. Enemy fights resemble those from more recent installments of the Monster Hunter series, although the slow and ponderous nature of the adversaries may also evoke comparisons to the Dark Souls series.
This high-budget game was initially planned for release on the PlayStation 4 console, but it is now expected to be available on PS5 and potentially XSX/S and PC. Since the developers rarely discuss the Awakening project, it's hard to predict when it might be released.
It's worth noting that in February 2024, Cygames studio released the RPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink, which received a warm reception from both players and critics, and had previously developed games such as the card game Shadowverse.
