Gothic Remake Trailer
The long wait is over. THQ Nordic has finally unveiled the trailer for Gothic Remake.
Since THQ Nordic announced, that its games will be shown on August 11, fans of the Gothic series were sure that it would showcase gameplay from Gothic Remake. Some time ago, studio Alkimia Interactive started to cool down their enthusiasm - not without reason, as "just" a trailer was shown at today's THQ Nordic Digital Showcase.
The quotation marks used in the previous sentence are not accidental. For this trailer lasts almost 2.5 minutes - this is the longest footage of Gothic Remake that we have seen so far (not counting the game's demo, which eventually went to the trash). You can watch it below.
The trailer is a kind of tour of the Old Camp. It begins at the northern gate, and then the camera "flies" through a good part of the outer ring, while following the actions of a certain thief. In addition to the daily life of the miners, who do not have an easy time with the guards, we can see Snaf the cook, distributing his food to the other prisoners.
Finally, we find ourselves in the arena, which, as announced by creators - is clearly larger than in the original. The residents of the Old Camp watch a daredevil who fights to the death with a fiery lizard. The trailer crowns with a scene in which our rogue gets a beating from a guard.
We must admit that the trailer is very atmospheric. The Old Camp evokes very strong associations with the penal colony we know from the original - perhaps even stronger, if we take into account the "flowery" language used by the prisoners or the brutality of the guards.
One may also like the visual design - both of the locations and the characters. Let's hope that other camps and locations will be depicted with comparable reverence and fidelity to the original. The music by Kai Rosenkranz also deserves a mention, adding to the atmosphere of the whole thing.
Unfortunately, we still haven't seen Nameless - his model should however, satisfy fans - nor have we learned the approximate release date of Gothic Remake. All we know is that the game will be released on PC, PS5 and XSX/S - probably in 2024.
