According to Greg Rice, the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 will benefit the entire industry and could provide an opportunity for other games.
GTA 6 is definitely the most anticipated game of 2025 (officially it is still set to be released in the fall). Many people even expect that this will be the biggest release in history. Some even predict that the launch of the game will strengthen the entire market.
Greg Rice belongs to this last category. Rice holds the role of lead curator for Day of the Devs. During the ongoing Game Developers Conference, he told the editors of GamesRadar about his hopes for Grand Theft Auto 6.
Rice is not the only person in the industry who has expressed such hopes. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick shares them. According to him, GTA 6 will help the entire industry, as it will encourage a lot of people who have so far stuck to older platforms to purchase new generation consoles. These players will of course later also buy other titles that were not available on PS4 and Xbox One.
Greg Rice actually agrees with this view. As he said:
I'm sure there's lots of gamers that [GTA 6 will be] the only thing they play. It'll be the opportunity to get in on the new console generation and see what else is out there. So it's definitely gonna be a big economic boost for the games industry.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. It is almost certain that the game will also be released for PC, but that will happen much later.
