In Grand Theft Auto VI the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP).

Leonida - Vice City and surrounding areas

The developers provided us with a vast world, which includes the Leonida state, consisting of Vice City and the surrounding vast areas, such as the tropical archipelago of Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands, the Mount Kalaga national park, and the towns of Port Gellhorn (once thriving on tourism) and Ambrosia (centered around a sugar mill).

Vehicles

We can explore the open world both on foot and using all kinds of vehicles (passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles, as well as buggies or monster trucks) and other machines, such as motorboats, hovercrafts and helicopters. Cars do not have official licenses, but their real counterparts can be recognized without much difficulty.

Open world gameplay

The pillar of the game is completing missions pushing the plot forward, accompanied by a whole host of various side activities. As standard for the series, it's worth not drawing attention from law enforcement, because if we get on their bad side, they won't stop at anything to catch us. We fight against opponents, such as law enforcement or gangsters, making use of an extensive arsenal, in which firearms and melee weapons take the lead. There is also no shortage of grenades, explosive charges or various gadgets here.

Story

Return to Vice City

Grand Theft Auto VI takes us on a journey to the fictional state of Leonida, whose heart is the iconic Vice City - a metropolis modeled on Miami, known from the games Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. In contrast to the mentioned games, this time we don't visit Vice City during the 1980s. GTA 6 allows us to see its contemporary version.

Main characters: Lucia and Jason

GTA VI offers two playable characters:

1. Lucia Caminos - a character of Latin origin, whose family previously lived in Liberty City. We meet her when she gets out of prison;
2. Jason Duval - Lucia's partner. He has military service behind him and he dabbles in petty gangsterism.

The characters strive to lead a good life together - in ways they know. They are planning a small heist to set themselves up, but things don't go their way and they land in the middle of a big criminal intrigue.

The story also features characters such as the paranoid Cal Hampton, the gangster empire boss Boobie Ike, music industry tycoon Dre’Quan Priest, singers Bae-Luxe and Roxy (Real Dimez), bank robbery specialist Raul Bautista, and drug dealer Brian Heder.

Engine, graphics, music

Grand Theft Auto VI is based on the RAGE engine developed by Rockstar Games, which is designed to guarantee the highest quality graphic design using advanced technologies, led by ray tracing. The game's soundtrack largely consists of licensed tracks, which can be heard thanks to radio stations.

GTA 6 Online?

Due to the huge success of Grand Theft Auto Online, it can be expected that in addition to the single-player campaign in GTA6, we will also find an extensive multiplayer mode, which will be developed for many years after the initial premiere.

Official announcement and first trailer

We first heard about GTA 6 in March 2016, when a source from TechRadar reported that work on this project had already begun. Over the course of several months, and eventually years, not only unconfirmed information about this project (most of which turned out to be made up) made its way to the internet, but also materials from a high-profile leak presenting an early version of the game in action. Players had to wait until December 2023 for the official announcement of GTA VI. The trailer released at that time broke popularity records, attracting nearly 91 million viewers within a day.

Tidbits from the trailer and fan speculations

Although the first trailer of the game might have seemed quite enigmatic, fans quickly proceeded to its thorough analysis, which allowed them to discover various tidbits. It was teeming with references to real situations, as well as suggestions about what would be in the game. This includes the return of Weazel News (a fictional television station modeled on Fox News, known from Grand Theft Auto IV), the significant role of social media, or the monitoring device attached to Lucia's ankle.

Some also pointed out the similarity of the female protagonist to the actress Hailee Steinfeld, and also drew attention to the fact that the plot of GTA 6 could have been loosely based on the story of Bonnie and Clyde, which was supposed to be confirmed by the song used in the trailer by Tom Petty - Love is a long road.
