GTA 6 is to be fully playable, but there is still a long way to go before the job is done, says co-creator of GTA 5 and RDR 2
A former Rockstar Games employee believes that GTA 6 is already fully playable. The developers are now focusing on detecting and fixing as many bugs as possible.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is "probably" already fully playable, and Rockstar Games is focusing on polishing the game. At least that's what one of the former studio employees thinks, who once worked on the fifth installment of the series and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Mike York, whom we are specifically talking about, held the position of animator at Rockstar Games and recently participated in a currently non-public interview on the Kiwi Talkz channel on YouTube. There he conveyed that GTA 6 will only run at 30 frames per second at launch and compared the game to The Witcher 3 in the context of creating an open world.
During the conversation, he also speculated about the current state of this highly anticipated title. It's important to mention that GTA 6 is set to launch later this year, leaving Rockstar Games with limited time. It's no wonder that some fans might expect the game to be delayed, but York believes that the developers are close to finishing it.
They're probably still making a few new things here and there or adding to things here and there, of course, but I would assume that the game's probably playable now, and a bunch of people are testing the whole thing all the way through. There's probably a ton of bugs and they're fixing all those bugs, and they're trying to find more bugs, and they're trying to find as many bugs as they can before they release because a game like GTA is unlike any other game.
As for the current state of the game, it should not be surprising that at this stage most of the time is devoted to testing. Especially if Rockstar really still plans to release it this year. In the case of such huge games, fixing all bugs requires a large amount of time.
GTA 6 is currently heading only for PS5 and XSX/S consoles. After some time, the game will most likely also hit PC.
