HBO's The Last of Us With Massive Budget - Tens of Millions of Dollars Per Episode

HBO's upcoming TV series based on The Last of Us is Canada's largest cinematic production. The scope and budget of individual episodes is astounding.

The town of Fort Macleod in Canada is turning into a giant movie set for The Last of Us. Damian Petti, president of IATSE 212, the regional branch of the on-set worker union, says many locals will be employed on the upcoming superproduction.

According to figures provided by the president of IATSE 212 during an interview with CTV News, the sshow's budget is staggering. On average, there could be as much as several million dollars allocated per episode. Petti could not disclose the exact amount, but believes that shooting of The Last of Us is the biggest film project in Canada..

"This project well exceeds the eight figure per episode mark, so there is a multiplier effect on our economy in terms of its impact. There are hundreds of related businesses benefitting from the plethora of work."

"It [The Last of Us TV series] has five art directors and employs an army of hundreds of technicians. It has had six months of prep and shoots (in Alberta) for 12 months."

The Last of Us TV will probably debut in late 2022. The budget seems to suggest a high quality. Let's hope that the reality will not disappoint us, and the team responsible for Chernobyl will once again show what they can do.
