Hitman 3 Offers Interactive Benchmark

The developers of Hitman 3 have decided to add an interactive benchmark to their title, enabling us to test our PC's performance on one of the maps.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Hitman 3 features an interactive benchmark that enables us to test our PC during actual gameplay on the Dartmoor map;
  2. The tool monitors fps rate and displayed particle effects.

As we already wrote, today is marks the launch of Hitman 3 from IO Interactive. The game has been praised by reviewers for a number of features, but PCGamesNeditors have decided to highlight one of the title's less mentioned assets - the interactive benchmark.

Built-in benchmarks in games are tools that enable us to see how our computer performs in a given game. Sometimes the results presented by them are reliable, but it's not always so - there is no shortage of situations in which the displayed number of fps has nothing to do with what we will see during the actual game. All similar tools so far had one thing in common - they were non-interactive, boiled down to a real-time recreation of a specific scene prepared by the developers. Developers from IO Interactive decided to change that.

Benchmark offered by Hitman 3 takes the player to the map known from the second mission of the game - Dartmoor - where we get the opportunity to test various types of weapons with an infinite supply of ammunition. Gunshots and explosions affect the game environment and the fps rate is constantly monitored (divided into average, maximum and minimum). We also receive information about the displayed particle effects. But that's not all - if we really want to test our hardware, we can also press the "red button", which will spawn successive waves of guards.

It's certainly an interesting solution that enables players to test their PC's capabilities in a setting closer to actual gameplay, and offers a little more scope than simply launching the first mission. We can only hope that more development studios will include similar tools in their games, especially since, as we know, optimization of new games can be very uneven.
