Successful (but not controversy free) debut of Starfield showed that people want to jump into uncovered and still mysterious space to have a glimpse into the great unknown. While Star Citizen is in alpha stage, and seems like it’s not going to change anytime soon, there is new information about its single-player counterpart – Squadron 42. The last CitizenCon brought a lot of news regarding both titles, one of which is that the Squadron 42 is “feature complete”. That sparked hope in hearts of many players who started wondering if it’s possible to buy it already. If you are also thinking about getting the title but don’t know how, we’re here with information that may be of use to you.

How to buy Squadron 42

For players who love the idea of Star Citizen but would like to have more story focused experience, comes Squadron 42. People enchanted by the new trailer started wondering if it’s possible to buy the game, though the answer is not so simple.

Going to the official game store shows no visible signs of the production anywhere. There are only packages containing Star Citizen Digital Download, various ships and other content. There is one package though that contains Squadron 42, yet you will have to prepare a nice sum of money to get it right now. The only pack containing SQ42 is called UUE EXPLORATION 2950 and costs 1,353 USD (at the time of writing this article – keep in mind that the price may change in time).

There is also a discussion going on on reddit if it will be possible to buy the production outside of packs. Some fans suspect that the game has been pulled from the store due to EU regulations that forbid publishers selling games without a release date.

However, more believable speculation is that Cloud Imperium Games simply wants to prepare for a bigger announcement and change the price of the game. This theory seems to be supported by recent trailer revelations. Obviously, we can expect it to appear in the store at some point, though, most probably, only after the launch date has been officially announced.
