Factorio is an economic game in which players manage their factory, expanding it on a dangerous planet. Although, seemingly simple on the surface, it is not at all so, mainly due to the system of dependencies between buildings. Over the years, players have accustomed to different mechanics. However, with the Space Age expansion, new content has been added to the game. One of new features is the message you may have noticed, which says ‘Pipeline has been overextended’. If you are puzzled by it, this guide will tell you how to fix this issue.

Factorio 2.0 – How to Fix Pipeline Overextended

With the arrival of the new expansion, the basic game itself has also been updated, making some mechanics work differently than before. Pipes and pumps are a perfect example. The former have been altered to have a much higher throughput. However, their length has been reduced (or rather the area covered by them). For this reason, if you build the pipe system as before, you might get the message “Pipeline has been overextended”. How can you deal with it?

This is the time to use the pumps! Their important role is to allow for longer pipes. If you wish to have a long pipeline in Factorio, then unfortunately you will be forced to use them. While it might be problematic at first, in the long run, this change should make this mechanics easier to understand, thanks to the clear limits and rules that have been imposed by the developers. If you want to learn more about it, we encourage you to read the description of how liquids and pipes work in the new version 2.0.
