Factorio to Receive Major 2.0 Update with Space Age Expansion. The DLC Finally Gets Release Date, but It Won't Be Cheap

The release date of the major expansion Space Age for Factorio has been revealed, along with a game update to version 2.0. The DLC will be released on October 21st of this year and is priced at the same amount as the base game, which is $35.

At the same time, the developers revealed some information about the content that the expansion and patch 2.0 will introduce to Factorio.

Powerful, cosmic DLC in a nutshell

Space Age will enrich Factorio with:

• space platforms;
• defensive systems for shooting down asteroids;
• logistic routes enabling the transport of raw materials between planets;
• elevated tracks and water supports;
• items based on a five-scale quality system - from ordinary to legendary;
• new modules used for creating items and semi-finished products;
• the volcanic map of Vulcanus, from where we will extract tungsten and lava, which will be used to develop an extensive space metallurgical industry;
• the storm planet Fulgora, abandoned centuries ago, where we will unlock the "advanced electromagnetic and superconducting powers of Holmium;"
• A colorful, exotic Gleba, on the surface of which we will take care of plants and develop biochemical engineering.

Moreover, the devs of Space Age announced a new soundtrack by Czech composer Petr Wajsar. However, the icing on the cake will be one more - for now shrouded in mystery - planet, which, according to the developers, will provide the most unique experience in terms of gameplay.

Factorio 2.0

However, that's not all, because just like Cyberpunk 2077 at the premiere of the Phantom Liberty expansion, with the release of the Space Age Factorio DLC, it will be updated to version 2.0. The expansion will bring:

1. more intelligent robots;
2. new rails;
3. remote view;
4. improvements to the train's circuit and control network;
5. new fluid system;
6. improved terrain generation of Nauvis.
