How to install Oblivion Remastered mods from Nexus Mods
Oblivion Remastered has been available for less than 24 hours. However, this does not mean that there are no mods to download. On Nexus Mods you can find some interesting projects. So, how to install them?

Bethesda games are well known for their huge modders communities. Creation Engine, which is used in the latest games of the studio, allows to design many interesting things. Fallout 4 itself offers over 60,000 modifications available on Nexus Mods. It’s pretty impressive. Theoretically, in the case of Oblivion Remastered, the situation is a little more complicated, as the original was created on Gamebryo engine and rewritten on Unreal Engine 5. However, fans can do almost everything, so even a day after shadow drop, there are some interesting mods to download. But how to install them?
How to install Oblivion Remastered mods
Oblivion Remastered has a complicated structure. Graphics are powered by Unreal Engine 5 (with all technical problems included), but gameplay logic and systems are still controlled by the original engine. Bethesda also confirms that the game doesn’t have official mod support. So, you won't find anything for it at Creation Club. However, Oblivion Remastered still is very moddable. At least in theory. New files work in original tools. So, fans probably will be able to use it to create something impressive.
You can already find some interesting mods on Nexus Mods. So, for example, it is possible to extend your equipment with Carry Weight Modifier or use Less Restrictive Spells to make magic more accessible (you can read more about the best mods in our previous article). To use them, you need an account on Nexus Mods. This will allow you to download them. Next, you must follow the creators’ instructions.
If you have no experience in installing mods, make a backup of your files. Moreover, do not download any files from unverified sources.
To put it simply, mods installation requires you to unpack files into the correct place. In almost all cases everything is placed somewhere in the main folder:
- Steam: steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\
- Xbox: \XboxGames\The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\
Additionally, mods can also require you to edit Plugins.txt. You must put the name of the mod file in this file ("LessRestrictiveSpells.esp" for example). So, where to find this document?
- Steam: steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data
- Xbox: \XboxGames\The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data
Moreover, some modifications are also based on third-party software called ReShade. So, you must install this program to use them.
