How to use Pickpocket in Dark and Darker

The Dark and Darker playtest is still ongoing (you can read more about it here). It's worth saying, though, that there are still mechanics in this dungeon crawler that puzzle players. One of these is the Pickpocket. This is a perk that the Rogue class can select. We will discuss it in this article.

What is Pickpocket in Dark and Darker
According to the description from Dark and Darker thanks to the Pickpocket you can steal an enemy's item from the dungeon. It is worth mentioning that you cannot choose the item you steal. You will receive a random item that is not equipped by the player. Therefore, stealing from enemies at the beginning of the adventure is rather unprofitable, as they will not have much with them.
How to Pickpocket in Dark and Darker
You must first have the Pickpocket perk selected in the Class tab. This is done before the game. Next, you must find your opponent and approach them. You will be given the option to steal from them (default F key). You will then receive a random item after an animation.
It is worth noting that if the opponent moves too far away, your action will be interrupted. This means that they should be immobilised - this is best done when they are in the middle of an animation. A good place to do this is near some sort of chest. An even better place to do this is in the vicinity of the stone that activates the portal (you can read more about them here). Additionally, you will then be sure that your target has some items.
Of course, other players are unlikely to be happy that they are being robbed, so you will have to hide. However, remember that your Stealth will be interrupted the moment the action starts. So be behind the target's back.

Pickpocket is a perk with very limited usefulness. At the moment it is not very helpful. We rather advise against its use. It is better to take different perk.
