Hunting simulator theHunter: Call of the Wilds launching on February 16

If you agree that killing animals for sport is only OK in video games, perhaps theHunter: Call of the Wilds is something for you. This, plus walks through beautiful forests, is what this hunting simulator is going to offer next month.

If you remember the free-to-play hunting simulator theHunter from 2009, you are probably aware that it is getting a sequel. In contrast to the original, theHunter: Call of the Wild is going to be a paid game, but it will be much bigger too. The studio behind the franchise, Expansive Worlds, are co-operating with Avalanche (creators of Just Cause), and using their Apex engine – an expanded version of the technology used in Just Cause 3 and Mad Max. We now know the release date of theHunter: Call of the Wild – the wild… I mean big hunt starts on February 16, 2017. The game will be available digitally on Steam and in selected retail stores.

Just like it was in the case of the original theHunter, one of Call of the Wild’s main assets are the beautiful graphics. After all, the game is mainly about exploration, looking for animal tracks, and carefully stalking your prey waiting patiently for the perfect moment for taking a shot. The developers talk about a big world made up of several distinct hunting reserves with a total area of over 50 square miles. Apart from hunting on your own you will be able to take on jobs from NPCs or compete in 8-person multiplayer. Other noteworthy features are the variety of customizable weapons, advanced ballistics, day and night cycle and dynamic weather.
